"The technician was prompt the first day and always courteous. But he didn't necessarily seem prepared for the work at hand. It took a long time to install the lights, I made two trips to Lowes and he had to come back on a second day. On the subsequent trips, he was late and didn't arrive when he said he would. We had to reschedule several times.

"Harold and his team showed up right on time, and got to work without delay. They were clean, quick and didn’t even bat an eye at our two small children who kept asking who they were and what they were doing. They installed a new breaker box, and meter box, it looks far more clean and professional than the person/company who built our house. My husband and I highly recommend this team and will absolutely rehire them should that time come."

"Had a great experience working with this company. The design process was fun and easy, and the communication during the timeline and completion succeeded my expectations. We got new cabinets, countertops, sink, faucet, and backsplash. Xena even recommended putting lights underneath the cabinets and I'm so glad we decided to do this, it was so worth it. Everyone that comes over compliments our kitchen and I can't believe its ours. Thanks to all who made this possible."

"HBS was wonderful, prompt, fair priced, excellent out-of-the-box work for a specific issue. They were called for an emergency of water running into our storage area of the garage the day after we moved in. Jared climbed the roof in a downpour of a storm and discovered that the home we had just moved into had green growing out of gutters that had not been cleaned - he returned the next day with a helper and materials and set forth to clearing our extensive gutter line, purchased industrial screens for the cover and installed them. He found the leak in the roof - placed a length of two by four over the area that ran along a short roof line and sealed it. We have since been able to store my husbands wood working tools on shelves they assembled for him to access for his projects. Jared comes when he says he will, brings materials to complete tasks, is intelligent, a problem solver and works steadily and quickly. Easy to have around."

Chandelier Installation questions, answered by experts

If you’ve gone through the troubleshooting checklist for your motion detector flood light and it’s still not working, it’s time to consider a new one. Older models that need frequent fixes can be unreliable. Newer flood lights feature advanced technology that improves your lights’ sensitivity and overall performance. If you’re fed up with unexpected darkness, investing in a new light can give you the lighting you need to feel secure.

Yes, a handyperson can install a new light fixture in place of an existing fixture. A handyperson typically cannot complete significant electrical work or change a home's wiring. If you want to install a light fixture in a new location, consult a properly licensed and insured electrician according to your local regulations.

Yes, your house's age can affect how much it costs to install new light fixtures. If you have a very old house with an equally old wiring system, then chances are you'll need to update your wiring to accommodate your new fixtures. It can take anywhere from one to three or more hours to update an old house's wiring for a new light fixture, and since electricians charge by the hour, you'll want to factor this extra time in when budgeting for the project.

Low-voltage landscape lighting costs about $120 per fixture to install. You may need to install a 12-volt transformer, too, to ensure the lighting system runs safely. For a six-fixture low-voltage landscape lighting setup, expect to pay around $1,000. A major reason people choose low-voltage landscape lighting is to reduce the risk of shock, making it safer to operate the outdoor lighting system.

Recessed lights, as with any kind of light, can be a fire hazard if not installed correctly. Because of this, it’s best to have a professional complete the installation for you. Properly installed lights should not pose a threat and often have heat sensors installed in them that turn the light off if the temperature gets too high.
