"First we contacted this shop which is now called Auglaize Body Shop from recommendation from a local shop in Centerville OH. The person who was owner of shop seemed like an honest person. After a few emails and talking to him we decided to bring him the bug. My wife and I dropped the vehicle off at his shop on April 8, 2018. After almost a year sending emails and calling the shop we started visiting him to see how our project was coming along. At this point nothing was done on the bug except sand blasting some the old paint off. After numerous calls and emails we were being told our car was next on his list. Finally I contact him and was told that we could pick up our prize. My brother and I show up at his shop to pick it up, but no one is the shop or answering phones. We waited for an hour and half. I eventually get an email stating him and his son stayed late getting our car finished. He stated to back next weekend to come get it. I said okay. We come up the next Saturday. This time I have both brothers with me. Still no one at the shop. Not answering phones, so we call the police and they call his cell phone with no answer from the owner. My next step is I stop up unannounced to find our VW sitting in same spot when dropped off with primer painted on it. Believe it or not I called before we came up the previous Saturday with the reply stated car is ready and I’m driving from Dayton OH which is 137 miles round trip.. Now it’s March 30, 2020 almost two years later and the shop has someone deliver it to us. I finally get to look at the car after it’s been gone so long. I find it’s missing $456.00 worth of parts and I can’t get the hood open to look inside. I eventually got the hood open and still did not find the missing parts. I called Wapakoneta police and talked to the police chief and he went talked to owner. The owner stated he ordered the parts and stated they are on back order. After visiting shop to get missing parts that were supposed to be ordered. The owner was not at the shop. The son called him and he wanted to talk to officer that accompanied me. The officer would not talk to him. The owner stated that he received a letter from Better Business Bureau he did not think he needed to replace the missing parts. The chrome trim on passenger window is pulled off. The window tracks are not installed and it has dents on the inside and outside of both doors. They painted over old paint that was not removed while sand blasting. The front left fender is buckled. I also found rust holes they painted over. The engine cover and doors are not aligned or even have the springs in them to keep them up."

Welding questions, answered by experts

Beams made out of traditional lumber can often only span 8 to 12 feet without requiring vertical supports, so if you want a wider opening to create a more open floor plan, you might need an LVL beam. LVL beams can span up to around 30 feet without the need for load-bearing walls or vertical supports underneath, making them a better option for keeping your home as open and airy as possible.

Costs depend on material type, labor, design complexity, finishing requirements, and installation needs.

Most projects take 1-4 weeks, depending on material sourcing, design intricacy, and required finishing treatments like powder coating or galvanization.

Some states require welders to be licensed and certified, while others don’t. However, it’s always a good idea to hire a licensed welder, regardless of requirements in your area, especially if you need welding for structural components of your home or gas lines. Licensed welders have gone through training and testing to prove their skills, so they’re less likely to make a mistake that could be detrimental to your home. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to determine whether your potential hire has a welding license.

You should pick steel for your new support beam for a few reasons. While steel is more expensive than other materials, such as laminated veneer lumber or glulam, it offers the following benefits:

  • Fire-resistant

  • Unaffected by pests

  • Longer-lasting

  • Stronger against water damage (when galvanized against rust)
