"Dave, our sales rep (and also one of the owners of the company) was great to work with. He personally came out to our house to see what we needed done and we discussed everything with him. He provided us a no pressure quote for new windows for our entire house, back porch and a new porch entry door, plus gutter guards as well. The installers did a great job as they did a complete tear out of our old windows and trim. It was a much needed improvement to our home."

"Mr. Handyman is an awesome service for so many reasons. I'm sure different people use it for different reasons, but personally, I'm a small business owner who is renovating a house, and it's a lot to manage without help. Prioritizing things like small repairs and assembling furniture is extremely difficult for me, and it's so valuable to have a resource like Mr. Handyman who I know will come to my home exactly when they say they will and just get it done right. It's really different from hiring your run-of-the-mill contractor because you know exactly who you're getting, and they have a repeatable methodology for customer service and project execution. You will never experience a late handyman, a lack of professionalism, or a job poorly done--it's just not how they do things. They're also really transparent about quoting and billing, so you know exactly what you'll pay.I know that any of their staff would be knowledgeable and skilled, so you're safe with anyone. I do have to mention, though, that I am so thankful to have found Dan. He is an excellent handyman and person. I have been so absolutely happy with his service, he does everything beautifully and goes way out of his way to make sure everything is done the way I want it. He is professional, considerate, and makes it clear that his main concern is making sure I'm satisfied, plus I'm pretty sure there's nothing he can't do."

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

Gutters should not drip at the seams. This problem could indicate that water is collecting in the gutters instead of moving to the downspouts. You could have leaves or other debris blocking the flow of water at the seams. Try cleaning the gutters, adjusting the slope, and sealing any holes or cracks in the material to fix this problem.

The average cost to install or replace gutters is around $2,000, with typical project costs ranging from $900 to $7,000. Most companies charge between $4 and $30 per linear foot. The total price depends on several factors, including the size of your home, the complexity of its footprint, the gutter material (e.g., vinyl, metal), and the gutter style (e.g., half-round, custom-built). Additional elements like downspouts, corners, and optional add-ons like gutter guards can also increase the price. The condition of your roof is another consideration, as new gutters cannot be installed on a rotting or sloping roof. While it can be an expensive upfront cost, new gutters are a worthwhile, long-lasting investment for protecting your home's exterior. You can save up to half on labor costs by installing them yourself.

Yes, many homeowners find that seamless gutters are worth the investment. Although they have a higher upfront cost than standard gutters—an average of $2,700 compared to $2,000—their benefits often outweigh the price difference. Seamless gutters last longer, require less maintenance, and are less prone to clogs and leaks due to having fewer seams. In contrast, standard gutters typically have seams every 10 feet, which can leak and require new sealant every one to five years. Additionally, seamless gutters are considered more aesthetically pleasing, come in a variety of colors to match your home, and can improve your home's curb appeal and potential value.

With routine maintenance, gutters don’t usually need to be replaced for 20 years, but there are warning signs that they might need early replacement. Signs that your gutters need to be replaced include sagging, visible cracks or holes, peeling paint, rust, standing water in your gutter, and water leaking into your basement. Pushing off replacing your gutters can lead to extensive damage to both the interior and exterior of your home. Regular maintenance can help your gutters last all 20 years — and sometimes, even longer.

Gutter repair costs around $400 on average, and prices range from $200 up to $650 in most cases. You can expect to pay between $4 and $30 per linear foot. The best way to get an accurate estimate is to have a professional come out to price your project. Some factors that influence your total include the following:

  • Number of linear feet of gutter to repair

  • Gutter style

  • Gutter material

  • Accessibility of the gutters

  • Whether you have seamless or seamed gutters

  • Type of necessary repairs
