"Excellent company! Came to give an estimate right away. Moved deck furniture, power washed, replace a couple boards, stained with premium sealant, and will be putting furniture back. Very responsible worker."

"Joe did a fantastic job in cleaning the ducts! My home is a little over 50 years old. Joe indicated that the ducts have never been cleaned. He mentioned that this job gave him a sense of accomplishment and I'm very pleased that they won't be anymore dust (or at least not what I've had in the past)!"

"It went very well--people on the phone were very polite ("thank you for giving us opportunity"--when was the last time you heard that? ) The company representative came promptly on a cold snowy day. He put down drop cloths to keep my floor clean. He explained the work and did a nice job. When I pointed out one hidden vent in a closet, the gentleman thanked me for pointing it out and promptly cleaned it. Cost is based on number of furnaces"

"I scheduled 2 wks in advance. I waited 30 minutes and called him to confirm he was coming or running late. He admited to the oversight (honesty is the best policy) and offered to be there within the hour. He was there and he did an excellent job. He got the egg stain off, he cleaned the frame and sill along with the windows. He even slid my screens back in the right position as well."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

It’s best to prime composite decking before painting. This promotes better paint adhesion, helps create a smooth finish, and can mean the paint job will last longer. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for application, allow ample primer drying time before painting (typically 24 to 48 hours), and thoroughly clean the deck boards to promote the best adhesion.

Deck boards should be spaced no more than three-eighths of an inch apart. This is enough space to allow water and small debris to pass through without collecting on the surface, but not enough to create a tripping hazard. Certain materials, like pressure-treated wood, shrink over time, so they may need less space at installation.

Generally, a patio is more accessible than a standard deck because patios are constructed at ground level. However, decks can be made accessible by adding a wheelchair-accessible ramp, a vertical lift, or a stair lift along the entry. An ADA-compliant deck ramp costs about $3,000 on average. The additional investment will provide a much friendlier experience for your guests with movement impairments.

The proper and most comfortable height for a deck stair riser, also called a step, is between four and seven inches. A height of seven inches is often considered ideal for a strain-free step that minimizes the risk of trips and falls. While it is possible to have risers up to 12 inches, this height can be challenging for children, pets, or individuals with mobility issues. For optimal safety and comfort, pair a seven-inch riser with a tread depth (or run) of at least 10 to 12 inches. Always check your local building codes, as they may have specific requirements that differ from these general recommendations.

In most cases, sanding an old deck before staining it is necessary to achieve a decent finish. If your old deck has a relatively new stain finish on it and you're only doing touch-ups, you can generally skip the sanding part. However, if your goal is to make the deck look and function better, sanding first is a must.
