"I was so happy after Northwest Construction Group completed my bathrooms that I hired them again to remodel my kitchen. They were able to give more than I ever imagined I could manage while remaining within budget. What makes this company special is that the designer took the time to meet with me to discuss and understand how I use my kitchen. This led to the final product being a truly functional kitchen. I was initially concerned that adding more counterspace and cabinets would make the room feel cramped, but somehow, even though everything is within the same footprint, the entire room feels so much larger. Construction went very smoothly and was minimally invasive. Along the way, they found some miscellaneous issues outside of the scope of the project and took care of them to ensure my home was safe. I received frequent updates throughout the project and remained well informed. The workers were reliable, arrived on time, worked full days, and ultimately completed the project on schedule. I love my kitchen and am extremely grateful for Northwest Construction Group and all their hard work. I would highly recommend this company."

"I was looking for someone to handle blueprints and engineering for a home in the Florida Keys. Having built homes before, I’m familiar with the process and already had some sketches with a few changes I wanted to make. I found Evolution Drafting online, and Kristine walked me through everything clearly. Lindsey was assigned to my project after a quick introduction and a follow up she was AMAZING to say the least! The initial drawings were excellent, and any changes I requested were completed within days. Compared to another project that took nearly a year, this was incredibly fast and detailed. My wife and I are very impressed. I highly recommend Evolution Drafting LLC—ask for Lindsey on your project. Truly top shelf!!"

Architects questions, answered by experts

When planning a new build, meet with an architect as your first step. Architects will often work with specific contractors and can ensure the contractor on your project is qualified and experienced to handle your build. Both the architect and the contractor should be involved with the project from the early stages, but the process may be smoother when you start with an architect.

An architect is usually involved in the process of determining the layout and structural features and requirements of the home itself, taking into account the local codes, climate, and materials needed to make the home structurally sound. Architects may communicate more with contractors and subcontractors throughout the building process. In comparison to architects, interior designers typically focus on the aesthetics of a home interior and possibly exterior, helping the homeowner decide on color schemes, textures, and materials to incorporate into the design.

Architects bring expertise in spatial design, efficiency, aesthetics, and safety, translating complex needs into feasible, regulatory-compliant design plans.

Universal design costs can be minimal when you add them during construction; however, adding universal design principles to existing homes can sometimes increase renovation costs. For example, a mid-grade bathroom remodel is estimated to cost around $30,000, while a standard universal design remodel can cost closer to $40,000. Adding accessible design components can include widening hallways ($500 to $2,000), curbless showers ($2,000 to $8,000), and widening doors ($400 to $800). Keep in mind that these increased costs can lead to higher resale values because universal homes may appeal to a wider variety of buyers.

Stone, marble, and brick are common building materials of Neoclassical architecture, though you will also find wood flooring and a range of natural stone tiles. Since several home styles fall under Neoclassical architects' umbrella, a range of building materials—including traditional wood framing—will make an appearance.
