"So we had a custom entertainment center built. We initially were gonna use a California closet type of business but wanted real wood not laminates. He met with us quickly and got a plan together. The process took about 8 weeks from first meeting to being completed but this was during the Xmas season. He kept in touch and kept us updated. He brought the finished product in to the house and installed it over 1.5 days. The quality was top notch. The painting of the product actually looks flawless. Very happy and impressed. Cost was very reasonable compared to laminate and non wood products.i would submit pictures but some reason it s not offering that option."

"Great job cleaning the carpets and couch. Tim was meticulous and you can tell he takes pride in his work. This is not the first time we hired them and the quality has been consistent each time. There were many stains in the carpet I didn’t think could be removed but they were. He called the day before as a reminder and took his time to get it done right. The price was fair and close to his competitors. I appreciate all your hard work and won’t hesitate to call again. Thank you!"

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

For upholstering in Ashtabula, keep essential tools like a heavy-duty staple gun, upholstery needles, fabric scissors, and a seam ripper. Because of Lake Erie’s humidity, use a dehumidifier and moisture-absorbing packets when storing fabrics. Waterproof containers, fabric protectant sprays, and a steam cleaner help maintain upholstery. A space heater or fan can also help regulate your workspace during Ohio’s changing seasons.

Helpful?

In OH, cosmetic upholstering focuses on updating colors, patterns, or styles—such as using light, coastal fabrics for lake homes or traditional designs for historic properties. Functional projects address repairs like fixing springs or replacing padding damaged by moisture, which is common near Lake Erie. Many Ashtabula residents combine both, refreshing the look while reinforcing structure, especially before busy summer months or during winter use.

Helpful?

In Ashtabula, consider how new upholstery might interact with your home’s HVAC, electrical, and flooring. Thick fabrics can block heat vents during cold Ohio winters, and repositioned furniture may cover electrical outlets or baseboard heaters. Heavier or larger pieces can impact older wood floors, especially in historic homes. Review your room’s layout to ensure proper airflow, access to outlets, and floor support before starting.

Helpful?

When planning upholstering in Ashtabula, consider your home’s age, architectural style, and proximity to Lake Erie. Historic homes may require period-appropriate fabrics, while lakefront properties benefit from moisture-resistant materials. Assess sun exposure, basement dampness, and heating systems, as these factors influence fabric durability and placement. If you have pets or entertain frequently, choose stain-resistant, durable fabrics suited to your Ohio lifestyle.

Helpful?

In Ashtabula, upholstering project timelines vary based on the furniture type and season. A single chair typically takes 2-4 weeks, while sofas often require 4-8 weeks. Antique or specialty pieces may take 6-12 weeks, especially during spring and summer when demand increases. Local fabric availability, Ohio’s winter weather, and humidity near Lake Erie can also impact how quickly your project is completed.
