"WE highly recommend Appalachian Gas Works. Jason did an excellent job replacing the outside gas lines to our two fireplaces which the gas company said needed replaced. Jason was punctual, conscientious and professional. We thought he was very reasonable for the extended work that was needed to also replace inside lines in our basement ceiling!!!"

"The company responded almost immediately to my request for a quote to install a gas line to the kitchen in order to convert to a gas range. The we're able to schedule the service within a couple of days and the individual sent out was professional and experienced. The install ended up being a little more complicated than planned, but presented no problems.  I did spend more than expected, but am very pleased with the thoroughness and quality of the work.  I would definitely hire them again for future needs."

"They did a great job. They solved all the problems I had with the chimney and it’s been working perfectly ever since. They also fixed a problem on the roof around the chimney; they replaced the wood around the chimney with a material that would never rot, so they fixed it even better than it was before. It took them a couple of days to do the work. They took care of all the cleanup as well. We've been real happy with them."

"I can't say enough about the great experience I had with John Kirkbride of Kirkbride Drain Cleaning & Pipe Repairs LLC. John is licensed professional who provided great service. He was punctual, highly efficient, very knowledgeable in his field, very reasonable price and friendly! John did above and beyond working very hard to fix my kitchen drain. He repaired a bad plumbing job under the kitchen sink as well as drainage issue. Now that it was finally done correctly, I am confident there will be no further issues. John was helpful, considerate, and informative. He is professional in a company which values customer service. He was pleasant to do business with. I am very impressed by top-notch service. I will definitely consider using his services again if there are ever any issues in my house and would highly recommend John to anyone in need of plumbing services!"

Gas Logs questions, answered by experts

Yes, professional services include proper fuel line connection and ventilation to meet safety codes.

The difference between a built-in and regular grill is installation and design. A built-in grill is integrated into an outdoor kitchen or structure, often within a countertop or island. It is a permanent fixture. A regular grill is standalone, portable, or cart-mounted, allowing mobility and versatility in placement. Built-in grills are typically larger with more cooking space, while regular grills come in various sizes. Built-in grills are favored for creating a custom outdoor cooking area, while regular grills provide convenience and flexibility.

No. Placing a built-in grill against the house is discouraged due to safety concerns. Building codes and regulations often require a minimum distance (typically 10 feet or more) between a gas grill and any combustible structure, including a house. Placing a grill too close poses a fire hazard and risks damage to the siding or structure, potentially leading to carbon monoxide buildup. It's essential to consult local building codes, follow manufacturer guidelines, and prioritize safety by positioning the grill at a safe distance, ideally in a well-ventilated outdoor kitchen or designated grill area.

A few potential problems can cause your gas grill to stop working:

  • Burners aren’t properly aligned.

  • Food debris is clogging the burners.

  • Hose connections may be blocked.

  • Burners may not be getting enough gas.

  • Gas valve is not working properly.

If you’re experiencing any of those problems with your gas grill, hire a local grill repair professional to inspect your grill for issues and implement a plan to resolve them.

Appliances typically connected to a gas line include gas stoves, water heaters, furnaces, and gas fireplaces. Essentially, any appliance in your home that uses gas needs to be connected to a gas line, which connects your home with the main gas line owned and operated by your gas company.
