"I filled out the form Sat night/Sun AM hoping I'd get a company to install a new hot water heater on a Sunday an Doug called Sun morning stating he would fit us in. I was happy with the quote and mentioned we were having issues with the tank shut off. He said the person he was sending would know what to do and would have the parts. His guys were knowledgeable, helpful and very polite. My husband mentioned our sink was draining slow and they snaked it for us. The installation was later than he originally expected but he made sure our new hot water tank was installed and ready to go before 5 pm Sunday. They weren't able to take the old tank out on Sun but he arranged for his guys to come back when it was a good time for us. Both sets of workers were nice and respectful. My husband is keeping them in mind for future projects."

Skylights questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can install skylights on an existing roof, and it’s a common service that many homeowners opt for, especially on older homes built when skylights weren’t as prevalent. The installation process will be a bit more involved, and the design and planning process will take longer, meaning you’ll pay more to install a skylight on an existing roof than you would in new construction. The process involves cutting a hole in the roof, moving rafters, if necessary, and installing and sealing around the skylight.

Yes, if you have ventilated skylights, you can install insect screens on them. Insect screens for skylights cost $10 to $50 each, depending on their size and quality. Most pros highly recommend insect screens for ventilated skylights because they keep pests outside of your home while allowing fresh air inside.

Skylights increase natural light, improve ventilation, and enhance aesthetic appeal in rooms.

Fixed skylights are by far the most popular type. Because skylights can be pretty high up on your ceiling, fixed (rather than operable) skylights remove some maintenance from the equation. Plus, you don’t have to constantly worry if you shut your skylight fully the last time you opened it or if you’re going to find a leak later on during a rainy day.

Yes, solar tubes are easier to install than skylights because they’re lighter, smaller, and easier to handle. They also require less roof cutting and have a faster, simpler installation process. This means they’re a more DIY-friendly option for homeowners who want to add more natural light to their homes.
