"5 for sure. The installers were great. Installers did a great job installing the triple sump pump system. System is working well. Won’t really know if all the capabilities of the system will work until Disaster strikes. Because we have had the same system in a different house for the last 20 years, I don’t have any concerns that it will work flawlessly."

"We are thrilled to have a handyman like Sergiy.  We have used him for a number of years, and we have been more than satisfied with the work that he does.  He and his workers provide the ultimate handyman service.  They are capable of handling work beyond the usual skills of most handymen.  Whenever we have a problem at our home, we call Sergiy.  We are confident of his skills and trust in his ability to get the job done efficiently and with expertise.
Our problem with the tub drain was actually more complicated than just installing a drain.  It required cutting through the ceiling below the tub to get to the drain.  Before we realized that My Town Handyman could handle our problem, we had a plumber give us an estimate on the job.  His quote was much higher than Sergiy charged.  The quality of this work  My Town Handyman completed is exceptional.

While completing the work on our lists, Sergiy continually explained to us what he was doing and why.  He and his workers are honest, capable, and conscientious.  We are pleased to have a handyman like him.  As always, when we need a job done right, we will be calling My Town Handyman."

"They repaired an old lead and cast iron drain line that was UGLY to do. Roger showed up when he said he would, his crew showed up the next day and got after it!! What they did in 3-1/2 hours would have taken me a day or two doing it myself. They were fair and honest, cleaned up after themselves, and charged me less than the initial estimate. Whats not to like?? Great work, quickly done, and fairly priced."

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

Most people consider a French drain to be one of the most effective solutions for foundation leaks, but it’s not always a standalone solution. French drains will help keep water away from your foundation to reduce the risk of leaking and structural damage from soil expansion, but depending on your foundation type and location, you might need other systems or techniques—like soil gradation and gutter and leader installation—to resolve the underlying problem.

Installing a battery backup for your sump pump is recommended, particularly if you live in an area with frequent power outages or severe rainstorms. A sump pump requires electricity to function, and a battery backup ensures it can continue to move water out of your home if the power goes out, providing crucial protection against flooding. Additionally, frequent power outages can create electrical surges that might damage the sump pump's motor. A battery backup system offers an additional layer of protection, ensuring your basement stays dry.

French drains and yard grading systems are two highly effective ways to fix standing water around the foundation. Since the French drain uses a perforated pipe covered by gravel, you won’t have to worry about water taking the soil away from your foundation. Meanwhile, yard grading levels out the ground to prevent water from gathering around your foundation.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to drain wastewater and solid waste into the municipal sewer system or a septic tank. For fixtures below this level, like those in a basement, gravity cannot move the waste upward. The ejector pump provides the force needed to pump the sewage up to the main line. Without one, wastewater from below-ground fixtures would back up, potentially causing a sewage overflow and flooding. If all of your plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity is sufficient and an ejector pump is not needed.

Yes, you can finish a basement that leaks, as long as you address the leak first. Before finishing a basement, you’ll need to repair any cracks in the walls and waterproof the basement to prevent future leaks. It’s much harder to clean up a water leak from a finished basement than an unfinished one, so preemptively addressing any leaking areas prevents expensive repairs in the future.
