"Could not have asked for better more professional workmanship. Serge and Nick were always on time and worked from the moment that arrived to the moment they left. When the left the room was clean and Serge was good about explaining what had been done and what they would be doing the next day.The room looks fantastic; better than i ever would have expected. I will definitely hire them back again for our next remodeling project."

"I hired Lynn for several projects, this summer! (2025) He has done a terrific job with everything he’s done. He’s responsible, and very easy to talk with. He was very helpful on explaining, things, going over and answering all my questions. I had him do all my soffit work, painted my house also. I then had him do a deck for me. He’s a hard dedicated worker, and does remarkable work! I have more work for him next summer. I would highly recommend him, if you want good quality work done. I have tried uploading some pics, of anll the work I had done, unfortunately it would not work."

"Devin and his new partners did an outstanding job remodeling a very challenging bathroom. He came up with ideas on how to increase the size and better the layout of it. He then implemented them flawlessly. An additional and very important quality of his service was that he tried very hard to reuse any building material that he could. This not only helped save me money but helped the environment. I have already requested that he put me on his calendar for more projects!"

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Making a window in a basement larger costs an average of $4,200. You’ll need to pay an average of $550 to have a structural engineer plan the project, $500 to $1,500 for the installation labor, and an average of $2,200 for the excavation and window well installation. The remainder will go toward pulling permits, installing trim, and repairing drywall on the interior.

Any bowing in a basement wall indicates a problem that needs to be addressed by a professional. If your basement wall bows more than 1 inch, it's time for an inspection. Generally, a wall can bow up to 30% of its thickness (around 2.5 inches for an 8-inch-thick wall) before it becomes an urgent situation. Bowing of 2 to 4 inches is more straightforward to fix than bowing of more than 4 inches, which will require significant repairs. If the bowing is more than 6 inches, the wall will likely need to be replaced. The sooner you address the problem, the easier and less expensive the repair will be.

Rebar is an essential part of reinforcing a basement floor, as not having it can impact its structural integrity. It helps absorb the tension factors that contribute to cracks in your floor and strengthens its load-bearing capabilities by evenly distributing the weight. Not including rebar could lead to an unstable floor, so don’t skip it!

Since DIYing a basement remodel isn't typically advised, there are some ways that you can still save money on this project without putting yourself in danger. Some ways to save money on a basement remodel include:

  • Painting walls yourself versus including in the cost of the remodel

  • Installing light fixtures yourself

  • Choosing prefabricated fixtures, like cabinets, over custom ones

  • Choosing a budget-friendly flooring option, like laminate or vinyl flooring, and add rugs where necessary

You technically can paint wires in a basement ceiling, but there are several important safety and code considerations. It's safe to paint non-metallic sheathed cable as long as the labeling remains visible. You can also paint low-voltage wires and conduit and junction boxes to help them blend into your basement.

However, you should not paint damaged or deteriorated wiring is a fire hazard because it poses a fire hazard. The same goes for painting over high-heat wires that connect to heat-generating appliances or systems. Be sure to avoid painting multiple coats onto any wires, as that traps heat and poses fire risks.
