"We are MORE than satisfied with Skyline. Zack came out and quickly covered the damage on our roof and answered all my questions. He was a pleasure to work with. He is very knowledgeable and always answered my calls and text. From when the crew arrived till they left I was TOTALLY impressed with the Crew. They have a very strong work ethic and need to do the job the right way. I am a perfectionist and Iâ ll tell you I could not find any problems. The roof is perfect and they completely cleaned up after themselves. There is NOT one mark from any shingles on the house. In this day and age of companies doing jobs, and the workers they hire, you never know what you will get. Iâ ll tell you, you WILL be pleased with this company and crew. I am extremely happy I used them. The roof is beautiful. Thank you very much Built Right and crew!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

The most common roof pitch is 4:12, which means a rise of 4 inches for every 12 inches of horizontal run. However, roof pitch varies widely based on roof design, climate, and even the roofing materials you plan to install. Your building type also plays a role, as flat roofs are common on commercial buildings and some modern homes.

Yes, Energy Star roofs are one of the best types of roofs for cost efficiency. They can reduce your peak cooling demand by anywhere from 10% to 15%.

Many states require roofers to be licensed, and some states don’t mandate licensing. You can use Angi’s state licensing tool to check if a roofing company holds the proper licensing for your area. A licensed roofing contractor will provide reliable roof installation service, leading to a reduced risk of leaks in the future, which can be expensive to repair. Paying more for a licensed roofer upfront often means paying less over time.

Fall is widely considered the best time of year to replace a roof. The moderate temperatures are ideal for roofing crews to work and for new shingles to seal properly. Additionally, autumn weather is often drier, reducing the risk of weather-related delays compared to the rainier spring season.

While spring is also a viable option, the higher chance of rainfall can slow down the project. The main drawback to a fall installation is that it's the peak season for roofers, which can lead to higher prices and scheduling challenges.

To potentially save money, you could consider scheduling your roof replacement during the summer or winter off-seasons. However, both seasons have significant disadvantages. Extreme summer heat can make shingles too soft to handle, while winter's cold, snow, and ice can create dangerous working conditions and prevent shingles from sealing correctly, as they typically require temperatures above 40-45°F.

The formula for calculating how many squares of roofing you need is pretty easy. Take the total amount of square footage and divide it by 100. With this formula in mind, a 2,000-square-foot roof would require 20 squares of roofing material to adequately cover it.
