"Special thanks to Lorianne the arborist for her kindness, knowledge, and care. We were very impressed by the amount of time she spent with us explaining every aspect of what should be done even suggesting what we could try in order to avoid wasting money . Her crew performed treating trees and shrubs as well as trimming some large trees. The work was clean, neat and efficient. Thank you so very much Lorraine we will continue to use your impeccable services. Rich and MaryAnn Maricic BERGENFIELD,NJ"

"I had a "tree emergency" over a recent holiday weekend. Mauricio responded promptly and the job was completed within 24 hours. The job site was left immaculate and an oak was neatly cut and stacked for firewood, all at a very competitive price. Outstanding service!"

"Love Bernie, owner of America Tree Co. He’s honest, efficient and does as promised!! He did a great job just as we discussed. He gave me the best price after several other quotes. I wanted the wood to be cut and left so I could use it for fire wood. He did just that , where the others only wanted to leave me the top branches and take my tree trunk so they could sell the wood, plus charge me a higher cut price. So Bernie cut my tree, left my wood, cleaned up and did a wonderful professional job. His workers are great too. Not my first experience with this so this recommendation comes with many years of experience. Thanks Bernie!!!!!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

It can be bad to leave a dead stump in the ground. A stump becomes a hefty piece of dead wood in time and eventually (especially with the help of rain) starts to rot. That makes it a locus point for diseases and pesky insects, as well as a bit of an eyesore. It’s best to remove a tree stump completely before it starts to decay, especially before it starts to fall apart. If the tree was removed because of disease, it’s even more important to fully remove the stump if possible.

Talking with a septic pro before planting trees near your tank is best to ensure the roots won’t interfere with your septic system. However, there is an easy way to figure out where to plant a tree—but you’ll need to know how tall it can get when it’s fully grown. For instance, if the tree can reach 50 feet, plant it at least 50 feet from your septic system.

You should prune ornamental trees once every other year after the fruit has matured and begun to drop. You should also prune out dead branches whenever you see them. Pruning too often can stimulate more growth, especially in faster growing varieties like Bradford pears.

Whether you should remove the roots of a dead tree depends on whether they’re damaging nearby areas. For instance, if the roots continue to grow near sidewalks, driveways, or the foundation of your home, they can cause damage. If you want to plant something else in that spot, removing the roots can make it easier for the new tree or plant to grow.

Pruning trees during the summer can be a bad idea because the new growth will take place during the hottest months of the year, which can stress your tree out. Similarly, pruning during the early fall can be a bad idea, too, because you’d be stimulating new growth when most trees are aiming to go dormant.

Pruning recommendations will vary by the type of tree, but generally, waiting until winter to prune your trees is a good idea.
