"????? Great Experience with Miller Concrete & Excavation We hired Miller Concrete & Excavation for a residential concrete project and couldn?t be happier with the results. Ian and his crew were professional, on time, and did excellent work. The concrete looks great and the job site was left clean. If you want quality work from a contractor you can trust, I highly recommend Miller Concrete & Excavation / Miller Construction Group."

"We're renovating a 1910 house in downtown Ithaca and our structural engineer found some weak spots in the old stone foundation.  Also, the dirt crawlspace was horribly musty and mice-infested.  The whole house smelled like dirt.  Midstate was prompt to reply and come out to the property and then emailed a quote.  We got one other quote for the crawlspace encapsulation from the outfit most known for that service in Ithaca, but Midstate was quite a bit less.  Foundation repair estimate wasn't cheap, but the stone foundation was really bad and involved pouring concrete, etc, so the price seems fair.
Got on the schedule very quickly and had new concrete footers poured in front and back of house, several rotted support posts were replaced with pressure-treated 6x6's, and crawlspace was completely encapsulated.  We're just waiting on our spray-foam contractor to seal around the edges of the crawlspace when he sprays the rest of the house in a couple weeks.
CRAWLSPACE ENCAPSULATION note... this is the best money we will probably have spent on this entire renovation.  The entire house smelled like dust and dirt and dead mice.  Even sticking my head in the crawlspace made me cough.  Now, it's completely lined with a thick bright white sheet of plastic with not an inch of dirt in sight, and the support posts are all solid.  The air quality difference is already astounding.  The entire house used to smell like crawlspace but now the crawlspace itself doesn't even smell.  Very happy with this decision!

"Estimate matched another contractor.
He was thorough, comfortable to work with and answered all of our questions.
Day 1 they removed old walk and set up forms.
Day 2 they prepped the stone and mesh. Poured and finished.
Day 3 they removed forms.
Design matched up well with the existing public walk and driveway.
The crew was careful to mask off a recent set of steps to assure no concrete would splatter.
As with any concrete work, the nearby lawn is disrupted and the homeowner is left with re-landscaping.

"Will and Adam are true professionals and very easy to work with. The concrete pad they constructed for us was completed in a timely manner and the cost was very reasonable. Their workmanship is excellent, you won't be disappointed if you hire them for your project. I intend to have them do a second project for me in the next few weeks. I highly recommend this company for your project."

"My project was concrete lifting. Shawn Hodgson was the repair technician along with another man. Both were very polite and answered our questions before starting the project. They arrived on time and did an amazing job on the repair. I would definitely recommend this company to others."

"I reached out to Jon after my lawn company damaged my property and I had to let them go. My lawn hadn't been cut in 2-3 weeks and I was frantic! He called back within 2 hours, was at my property 10 minutes later, and even squeezed me in for a same day cut! Great communication, service was excellent - I cannot recommend enough!"

"The company raised the concrete but didn't take any precautions to keep debris out of pool. After two days of cleaning we have all cement particles out of the pool, but find it necessary to clean out our pool filter Though the concrete did raise in some spots it is not totally even; water pools in a couple of spots. Be advised that this company only fills in the holes; you have to hire another company to stain the cement to match deck color. Clean up is not high on the priority list.

Concrete Mudjacking questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can mudjack cracked concrete, but the cracks will need to be repaired once the concrete has been leveled. If the concrete is severely cracked in multiple places, replacement may be a better option, but for less severe cracking, mudjacking is a good solution as long as cracks are correctly caulked and sealed.

Most states and municipalities don’t require concrete mudjacking companies to carry a specific license, but they usually need to have a general contractor’s license, and they should be fully insured. The only exception is if the mudjacking company provides foundation repairs as well, or if it offers mudjacking for home foundations. In that case, they will typically need a foundation repair contractor’s license. You can check state requirements and then use Angi’s license lookup tool to confirm that a company is properly licensed to provide mudjacking services in your area.

It restores concrete, prevents replacement cost disruptions, reduces trip hazards, and provides stability at a lower cost.

Polyjacking and mudjacking can both be effective solutions for sinking concrete, but they have key differences. Polyjacking, which uses expanding polyurethane foam, is often considered a better option because the foam is significantly lighter than the cementitious material used for mudjacking. This reduced weight puts less pressure on the underlying soil and lowers the risk of future sinking. Polyjacking is suitable for any sinking concrete slab, while mudjacking is typically only recommended for non-structural concrete, such as sidewalks, patios, pool decks, and driveways. The primary drawback of polyjacking is its cost, which can be up to four times higher than mudjacking—as much as $25 per square foot compared to a maximum of about $6 per square foot for mudjacking.

Most projects take 1-3 hours, with immediate usability after completion.
