"We have nothing but positive things to say concerning this company and all of the staff.  They were extremely careful working around out many perennial gardens, they were very thorough on the excavation needed, and were willing to make changes to our original plans as the project progressed.  The results of their job was beyond our expectations.
The only down side is after seeing what was done we now realize we have another whole area we would like them to come back and complete.  We will be calling them again.

"I was concerned about the cracks on two patios and a set of steps. Figuring I needed them lifted and resurfaced. Jim came out conducted a full inspection and told me the honest truth that I could spend the money to have them come in and do the work, but this really was something that was more suited for a DIY situation as long as I felt comfortable with some basic tools and abilities. If I got in over my head they would certainly come and fix everything but for the time being and the cost of materials, this was something I could handle. I can't express how refreshing it was to have someone honest come into my home and not treat me like an idiot and take advantage of a situation. HONEST!!!"

"Absolutely AMAZING. Tony came over the next day after we spoke on the phone. Although my project and goal was a bit different than fixing a wet basement, my project was to keep my basement DRY! Tony and I walked the property and discussed draining the downspout out and away from the foundation with buried piping. Talking with him was a breeze like we had be pals forever and we just me. Tony had an additional idea that I overlooked and it pulled the whole drainage project together. We agreed on a price and BOOM, he started AND finished the very next day! Help like this is not easy to find these days however Tony and everyone from Absolutely Dry Basements is fantastic!! If you plan on hiring someone for his scope of work he is an Absolute homerun! Thank you Tony and your team. Darryl"

Concrete Walls questions, answered by experts

Through proper drainage solutions and compacting the foundation soil.

The ideal base for concrete is even, firm, and permeable to encourage drainage. Depending on your project's weight requirements, a combination of gravel, sand, or other aggregates is best. While you can technically pour concrete over grass, dirt, or an old piece of concrete, you risk threatening the concrete's stability.

Concrete walls last anywhere from 30 to 100 years. In many cases, concrete walls will last longer with proper support and ongoing maintenance. Some concrete foundations, for example, could last up to two centuries when properly maintained. Toward the end of its life span, however, it's critical to have a structural engineer examine the concrete wall for potential signs of decay.

Any bowing in a basement wall indicates a problem that needs to be addressed by a professional. If your basement wall bows more than 1 inch, it's time for an inspection. Generally, a wall can bow up to 30% of its thickness (around 2.5 inches for an 8-inch-thick wall) before it becomes an urgent situation. Bowing of 2 to 4 inches is more straightforward to fix than bowing of more than 4 inches, which will require significant repairs. If the bowing is more than 6 inches, the wall will likely need to be replaced. The sooner you address the problem, the easier and less expensive the repair will be.

The length of time it takes to construct a seawall depends on the size and material; commercial seawalls tend to be much more extensive and thus take longer to build. Expect the actual construction to take between a few weeks and a few months, but the preparation before work even begins might take just as long.
