Small jobs welcome

"Rich and his son were both professional and courteous, hard working, determined and very friendly! Rich stayed in touch with us, letting us know when the best time was for them to come out and pull our fence posts. They showed up on time and worked well together! We highly recommend them!"

"The work that was done entailed removal of existing exterior chimney pipe along with removal and replacement of the following: offset boot, storm collar, ice shield, flashing, roof shingles, and vinyl siding. The entire area was cleaned up and all debris removed upon completion. The repair men did a fantastic job and took the time to explain every part of the repair that was done. Also, when Igor came out and gave us the estimate he was knowledgeable and very thorough in diagnosing the issue and giving us a detailed plan for the repair work. The job was scheduled in a timely manner as was promised on the estimate. Igor also came out the day after the repair work was done and water tested the repair to ensure we would no longer have any water leaking into the house at that location."

"It went excellent!  Hi Tech Construction Co gave me a detail estimate of the job.  And compared to other estimates I received from several other companies, Hi Tech's was the most reasonably priced.  Hi Tech also gave me a timeline of the job from beginning to finish and they were right on target.  The crews showed up on time and carried out the job like experts - they surely looked like they knew what they were doing.  I noticed that they were very concerned about the safety of our neighbors, anybody passing by, their crews, and us.  They also cleaned everything right after they finished their job.  I was really happy with the timeliness and the quality of their job.  I will definitely strongly recommend Hi Tech.  I do not think you can go wrong with them.

"This project went smoothly from the beginning. I was amazed at how quickly Chan responded to my calls and texts. He was very friendly, courteous, and did his best to accommodate my requests. He also gave us great suggestions that saved us money. He sent a young man named Mano to do the work with another young man who amazed me as they quickly went to work and cleaned up as they went. Both were friendly and hard workers who did an excellent job putting up a new wooden fence with a gate. I would love to have them come back for other projects at my house. The company is A plus in my opinion! I will most definitely call them again!"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

The decision to add a dog fence to your property depends on several factors. A fence can be a good investment for pet safety, particularly in areas with hazards like busy roads. It helps contain dogs prone to roaming or those with a powerful hunting instinct, It also prevents accidents and neighborly disputes if your pet likes to venture onto their property. Also, by installing a traditional fence, you will also gain privacy. Some local regulations may also require homeowners with dogs to install a fence.

Yes, in many cases, homeowners insurance covers the cost to repair or replace a fence. Home insurance policies typically protect your home and other structures on your property, which often includes fences. If the fence is damaged by a covered event, such as a storm, fire, or vandalism, your insurer may cover some or all of the cost. However, coverage does not extend to damage caused by natural wear and tear, owner negligence, insufficient maintenance, or improper installation.

Both nails and screws are common in fence construction, including on pickets. Some builders prefer to use nails when connecting the pickets to the rails and screws when connecting the rails to the posts. However, the best option usually depends on the type of wood fencing and the variety of wood you choose.

Removing fence posts that are set in concrete is something you can't do by hand. You will need an excavator, a strong post-puller, or a jackhammer. If you plan on recycling the concrete base, you may be able to cut the post out with a jackhammer and then set the new post in the existing base. However, it's usually better to remove both the fence post and concrete together. Due to the weight of concrete, you will need a hydraulic removal tool.

In terms of materials, chicken wire mesh will be the most inexpensive option to use when building your fence. The downside is that it’s not the most attractive garden fence option. In a similar vein, you could choose a DIY fence made out of repurposed items, like car tires, or wooden pallets, either of which would be free to collect.
