"After door was installed the finished molding was not to our liking..We called Pace and they sent out Mike/Dan and they did a super job . This is our second door we have had installed. We would highly reccomend the company,the product and the installation. Thank you."

"So happy we chose R&D for our exterior wall repairs! they were great to work with throughout the process of what turned out to be a complicated issue. Their communication was really appreciated as they dug into things and problem solved some unique issues with how the previous home owners had cut corners on the house. Depending on the type of French doors you choose, they may be more expensive than sliding doors. Generally speaking, a single in-swing or out-swing French door will cost less than a sliding door, as it contains fewer materials and is easier to install. However, sliding doors usually have a slightly lower price tag, especially when compared to the standard double in-swing or double out-swing French doors.

You should generally cut between 1/8-inch and 1 inch when planing a door. If you cut off more than that, you risk damaging the door. Planing too much from the bottom of your door can cause noticeable gaps, so it’s always better to start with as thin of a section as possible and work in thin layers until your door no longer sticks.

Leaving vents open but closing doors in unused rooms will probably not save money on your energy bill. Closed doors prevent the natural flow of air throughout the home, which could reduce the efficiency of the overall HVAC system. They could also restrict airflow into and through the return vents, making the HVAC system less efficient.

Ideally, a gate should be able to swing both in and out. However, if it can only open in one direction, it is generally best for it to swing inward. This is often the safest option, especially for deck gates near steps, as you'll want the gate to swing away from the stairs. An inward swing also prevents the gate from opening into a public space, like a sidewalk, and can be more convenient when carrying heavy items like a wheelbarrow into a garden.

There are exceptions, however. The layout of your property may require a different approach. For example, if your property is on a slope, the gate may not be able to swing inward. You should also ensure the gate can open fully without colliding with any objects or blocking access to other areas. For a backyard garden gate where public access isn't a concern, the direction it swings is largely a matter of personal preference. Finally, always check your local building codes, as they may have specific requirements for which way a gate must swing.

If you want to let in plenty of sunlight while keeping your home well insulated, your best bet is a patio-style door with two doors with full-view windows, including one primary door and one secondary door behind it, such as a screen door or storm door. This two-door system will let in plenty of natural light while maximizing insulation.
