"I needed stucco repair work on an old chimney (and other spots). Grady was meticulous and thoughtful on what approaches and materials would work. Throughout the project they allocated sufficient time for each treatment to cure and inspected the work before proceeding to the next step. Grady started the project with no money down and only required ongoing payments for materials until the project was well underway. The final payment was due only after they did a final inspection. Total project cost was also below other bids."

"We needed a repair of a leaded glass side light. Terraza was very efficient and professional and quick to give us an estimate. They removed the panel, and returned the very next Saturday with a perfect repair which they installed. We met Donna and her husband who did a terrific job. I hope our dog Jeff who made this repair necessary when he tried to attack the mailman from inside the house never does this again. If he does we will get to see Donna and husband again and Jeffs milk bone treats will be reduced."

"The salesman was very nice, the windows are of very good quality and the price wasn't bad. But when the installers came they were subcontractors NOT people from Castle as I was told. Out of the 4 or5 workers that were at my home only 1 of them spoke english (barely) which was very frustrating. During the install I had to watch and inspect them putting the windows in because 1 of the workers, instead of using the plastic strips that come with the windows to hide the gaps from the old windows to the new ones, decided to just fill them with clear calking! They had to redo 3 of the windows he installed to hide the gaps. Also the 2 biggest windows they removed they pulled and tugged on them so much to get them out that they cracked the drywall at the seem. I called castle and left a message about the damage but never got a reply. That added an extra $500 to the project to get my walls repaired and painted. Would I hire them again? No I would spend the extra money and hire a contractor that dose the work himself, with his own workers who all take pride in the work they do not just how much they are getting paid for the day. Otherwise your going to spend some of the money you saved on additional repairs. You get what you pay for."

"I was amazed. We had 10 new windows replaced, and after working a 10 hour day, I was dreading going home & cleaning for the next 10 hours. But when I walked inside my home you didn't even know they were there. everything was placed back to where it belonged, there was no mess to vacuum. There also was no mess outside, my garden was not even touched. The only thing I had to do was wash the windows and hang the curtains. They were very nice & polite, professional men who installed the windows. The windows themselves are 100% perfect. We could not be happier and could kick ourselves for not doing it sooner. They gave us a date in July for Installation. They arrived in May."

"they were very good at what they did, the older man knew his stuff and was very polite and a younger son also knew what he was talking about and also was very nice. The wife behind the desk was very polite and funny and good to talk to, I would absolutely do work with this business again top notch company. Don't let the size of them scare you away, even though they are small I will use them over any big glass company around hands down. They are clearly is the best in my opinion"

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

Yes, professionals can install decorative or colored glass block patterns for a unique look.

Installing glass block windows has benefits and disadvantages, as with most materials. The pros and cons can vary depending on the type of glass block and the window location.

Pros

  • Maintains privacy while letting light into the bathroom

  • Energy efficient

  • Sealed to prevent drafts

  • Aesthetically pleasing

  • Strong and secure

Cons

  • Costly to install

  • Challenging installation

  • Challenging repair

DIY is possible for small projects, but professional installation ensures proper sealing, structural integrity, and a precise finish.

Although glass block windows are made of multiple layers of thick glass, they can still break. If an individual block shatters, it can be removed and replaced, but this is a job for a window repair professional. The project is often complex and may require breaking the block further for removal. Do not attempt to handle it yourself, as the broken glass can be dangerously sharp. A professional will have the necessary tools and expertise to replace the broken glass block quickly and safely. Before hiring, confirm that the repair pro has experience with this specific type of window.

Glass block windows typically last for 15 to 30 years, which is slightly less than the 20- to 50-year lifespan of standard windows. You can extend their life by resealing them every few years. Professional installation is also key to ensuring the windows are placed correctly and will function properly for years to come. A professional installer will have the necessary skills, tools, and knowledge to install these features and can identify potential issues like damaged frames or cramped areas during a consultation.
