We bring together vast experience delivering a broad range of projects, from private homes to complex academic, commercial, and mixed-use projects. Based in the Catskills and Brooklyn, BEAR's mission is to improve our shared environment through beautiful, responsible design. Through our collaborative process, we strive to create space that brings joy and wellbeing to those who experience it. We embrace the unique differences of each project to inspire outcomes that are truly responsive to the particular site and client aspirations. We offer holistic design services, inclusive of enclosure, interiors, custom furniture and millwork, from conceptual planning and visualization through permitting and construction. "We aimed to redesign/repurpose the interior space for a small outbuilding on our property and stumbled upon BEAR Architects after a quick google search. Being a new business, they didn't have much in terms of reviews, however, they were very responsive so we went with our gut and gave them a chance. Thankfully our gut feeling steered us in the right direction. Beth and Andrew are incredible to deal with. We found them to be very composed, yet focused and aggressive in moving our project along. They paid close attention to the objectives we communicated. They listened to our ideas and steered us properly when their knowledge and expertise was required. They were efficient and completed our project within the scope of the timeline laid out in their proposal. Lastly, they were respectful of our budget and ensured that we received everything we needed for the amount we had earmarked for architectural work. In fact, we were provided with additional site plans that were not initially within the scope of the project. I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to use BEAR Architects. We will certainly work with them again!"

Our vision is to bring architecture to everyone. We want the renovations of our homes and businesses to be easy, personal, and accessible. Design should bring value while reflecting the complexity of our lives. As a new service from Bright Architecture, Sixthirty provides affordable, custom design packages that brings personal and professional architecture services to small residential and commercial renovations. The design packages are priced per room, per shop, per floor area and broken out into a menu of separate design phases. By using 3D BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology, proprietary internal design processes, focusing on the customer, and leveraging our industry experience, Sixthirty re-conceives architecture as an affordable catalog of professional services with design, documentation, and project assistance packages.

"We loved working with Holly and the team at SixThirty so much that we hugely increased the scope of our work. First we just wanted a bathroom and a kitchen updated but we loved the plans and the possibility they brought to our space so much that we got designs for every space. Any renovation becomes a drag, but working with Holly and the team was very satisfying and filled us with ideas for our new space. She and her colleagues, especially Michael and Amy, were great, even though we had a million questions and wanted to know "why" for every decision. I can't recommend this service enough, especially for the ability to try out design in a small space and then get addicted and want to do more!"

Allan was born in 1944 and grew up in the Forest Hills, Queens section of NY. He attended both Pratt Institute and Parsons School of Design and immediately became a furniture designer upon graduation, working for esteemed firms including Zimmerman Design and Philip Bruce Inc. Allan has long bought, renovated and resold properties for a handsome profit, relying on his design skills and expertise in space and layout, including three brownstones on NYC’s Upper West Side. In the 1970’s Allan was instrumental in designing and creating several stores for Pottery Barn, also creating a custom closet department for the chain – a first in the country! He has lived in Woodstock for over 20 years, building, renovating and designing homes for himself and for clients as well as working with real estate agents and brokers in his Interior Analysis service. Allan is also an accomplished artist, beginning in the 1960’s when he participated in the Art Students League in New York. His paintings have been shown in OK Harris and Jackendoff Bocce in SoHo, NY, as well as General Electric Headquarters, Manhattan College and The Woodstock Artists’ Association. Interior Design and Decorating questions, answered by experts

It’s unnecessary to tip holiday decorators, and most professionals won’t expect it, but it’s a nice gesture to show your appreciation for their work. If the expert goes above and beyond to keep your delicate decorations safe, or they’re hanging your exterior lights and putting out lawn decorations in freezing temperatures or inclement weather, a tip between 10% and 20% of your total will be appreciated. Large jobs that include interior and exterior work are also good opportunities to tip, especially if your expert is performing a rush job close to the holidays.

Light-colored paneling–like white or ivory–can make a room look larger by extending the visual aspect of a room’s size, like a mirror. Dark-colored paneling–like oak and mahogany–can make a room feel small and closed in. However, for those looking to create a more intimate space, this isn’t necessarily a negative.

If you need help with your holiday decorating, the first step is determining your lighting and decor needs to narrow down your pro options. For example, if you want a custom outdoor light display with all of the bells and whistles, you’ll likely need to hire a local holiday light installer who specializes in that service. But if you only need to hang some lights inside in hard-to-reach places, consider hiring a handyperson or an interior decorator instead. It’s best to contact at least three different companies for quotes and to find out what services they offer.

It’s unlikely. Not many baseboard heaters come with designs that offer the option to switch to a new kind of cover, but you can certainly ask the manufacturer for more information. Keep in mind, a cover with the same dimensions as your old cover isn’t guaranteed to fit because clasps, screws, and brackets may be in different places. The only way to be sure is to find an alternate cover that’s made to work with your specific model.

Decorating a tree yourself will only take between one and two hours, but a professional designer may take more time to create their vision. When hiring a pro, assume the work will take a minimum of three to four hours.
