"The landscaping came out beautiful. When you hire Starkie Bros. you get the platinum package every time. We used them 21 years ago to do the pavers and landscape around the pool in the yard. We were extremely happy then as we are now. He even had several of the same workers and they remembered working on our yard. He also did our front walkway in pavers a couple of years ago. I would definitely recommend John Starkie!"

"Our front stoop was in a state of disrepair and needed replacement. My husband and I envisioned classic red brick steps (Glen-Gery 52-DD) with traditional black wrought iron railings. Many prospective contractors, most admittedly having little experience building brick stoops, were reluctant to take on this project and did not answer basic questions regarding materials and construction. Not the case with Masonry Hardscapes . They stood out among the rest. and was the last contractor we needed to call. Detailed estimates given. Reasonable prices. Quality workmanship. Work completed within the time-frames promised. Joe answered our questions with clarity, was onsite regularly and was readily available throughout the duration of the project. He was able to envision and accomplish what we had conceived. Very noteworthy is that Joe and his team were always gentlemanly in manner, respectful and most pleasant. Construction work can be stressful to homeowner, so it was appreciated that the Masonry Hardscapes team did what was necessary to make the process as easy as possible. The team worked in impressive quiet coordination. They kept the area remarkably clean, removing debris as they went along The cats who usually go into hiding when even minor work is done, actually sat in front of the window to watch. While we originally intended to replace only the stoop, we trusted this company would also do a great job with walkways, replacing concrete, pebbles and stepping stones with brick pavers. (Glen-Gery 53-DD) The pavers have multi-color tones and a markedly rustic appearance. Joe offered creative ideas that not only would be beautiful to behold but would be built to required standards and be protective of the home. In keeping with this principle we decided to have them also replace the old painted patio with Nicolock Granite City Stone Ridge XL. The gray tones of the new patio contrast beautifully with the red brick paver border that Joe suggested, and, as he explained, the new patio will offer protection against water penetrating the foundation of the house. These men know their craft! It is a pleasure to recommend Masonry Hardscapes, and we will call upon them should we need masonry services in the future."

"We hired Osorto to redo our front steps ange and his team did a wonderful job by providing us a great experience with ample communication and confirmations of material and a good and fair price. Their expertise is remarkable as well as their attention to details. The pathway to the front steps were done and the sidings were made to match the work too. We are delighted with their work and will keep them on our speed dial."

"I was extremely happy with this company. I liked the fact that he would come to install one door. (Good to his advertisement, he goes to Suffolk county) It turned out to be more than the one door.. He returned my call, the same day. I found Greg, a pleasure to deal with. I chose his company to call, over 3 other names I felt fortunate, it worked out so well, and I made an excellent choice. Now have the name of someone who handles all types of home repairs, that does excellent work. I was extremely impressed, that upon walking up to my door, he removed the snow, off the steps. Top notch company!"

Gazebos questions, answered by experts

Common materials include wood, vinyl, and metal. Wood offers a classic look, while vinyl and metal are low-maintenance options.

Professionals ensure safe, thorough repairs using quality materials, extending the life of your structure.

Several types of porches are available to meet your needs and style preferences. Some common porch types include:

  • Porticos are essentially a roof over a walkway leading to the home's front entrance.

  • Sunrooms are closed-in porches that are an extension of the house with glass or plastic panels that allow optimal sunlight.

  • Wraparound porches extend around the entire home, or at least the front and one side, and offer multiple entrances to the house.

  • Back porches are an extension of the home’s floor into the outdoors. These offer more protection and privacy than a deck.

Log cabins are relatively difficult to maintain compared to a traditional house. That’s because log cabins require regular upkeep and care that can include refinishing and corncob blasting, a process similar to sandblasting that shoots ground-up corncob with compressed air.

On average, building or installing a gazebo costs around $5,700, with a typical range between $3,000 and $10,000. The final price depends on several factors, including the gazebo's size, shape, material, and design complexity. Material choice is a significant cost driver; for example, brick is often more affordable, while metal can be one of the more expensive options. Square-shaped gazebos can also be more expensive to build. Custom features, such as built-in seating or lighting, will increase the total price. You may be able to save money by purchasing a prefabricated gazebo kit or performing some of the labor yourself.
