Freedom roofing specializes in asphalt and metal roofing for both residential and commercial properties. Proudly serving all of Rochester, Buffalo and Syracuse.

"Very rude and poor service. Abandoned job and put holes in my roof. Gaps in the metal trim. Blamed me for the hole and leaks. They did the work! Have many shingle sticking up because they left old roofing nails under them. They cut thru my siding and the flashing when installing trim and I can see daylight thru the cuts, from inside the house. The hole they left goes thru to an interior wall of the house. The trim was nailed thru the flashing. Nothing solid behind the trim to hold in the nails. Its been over a month and they never show up to repair the damage they caused. Pictures say it all. Their worker started screaming at me when I tried to explain the problems and so I screamed back to tell him to shut up and listen to my concerns. Now they are saying I harassed them with my yelling. They talk great and professional when they are selling the job, but the professionalism stops there. "

"Jesse charged my elderly parents 2225 bucks to install a window unit AC into a pre-existing space in their dining room. He never wrote up an estimate, and so my parents felt cornered and coerced into paying this outlandish bill when he presented it to them. We are shocked and saddened by this entire experience."

Roof Ice and Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

It’s possible to use a torch to melt ice on your garage door, but we don’t recommend it. It’s very easy to bring the flame too close to the door, which can melt the weather stripping or even the garage door itself. You’ll melt ice quickly with a torch, but the damage you’re likely to cause can end up costing you a few hundred dollars to fix, which isn’t worth it. Instead, we recommend pouring hot water over the frozen area or using a less intense heat source, like a hair dryer or space heater.

When it comes to deciding whether a two-stage or three-stage snow blower is better, you must consider the amount of snowfall you get, the size of the area, and your budget.

A three-stage snow blower is more efficient at clearing higher volumes of snow quicker and removing ice build-up. It’s ideal for commercial use and removing snow from large areas. Make sure to compare various types of snow removal equipment to ensure you purchase the one that is best for your needs.

Yes, but it works best with lightweight snowblowers, the single-stage models or electric versions. Also, you need to have a rubberized intake edge on the ground and preferably rubberized auger paddles, not a metal version. Otherwise you may chip or damage the surface as you work. When it doubt, let the snow lie.

You can also use a snow blower on leveled gravel, but only if you carefully adjust the intake height so it doesn’t kick up the gravel and turn it into flying missiles.

Schedule regular snow removal, apply salt or sand to icy areas, and mark hazards like curbs or drains.

How much snow can a roof hold? The answer could help you to avoid roof collapse—a worst-case scenario, of course. For most roofs, you can expect it to withstand four feet of fresh snow, two feet of packed snow, or two to three feet of a mix of old and new snow. However, your roof will only be able to handle one inch of ice. The actual weight capacity of your roof may vary, so check with whoever built it for exact details.
