If you’re pouring concrete over asphalt or pouring concrete over an existing slab, you may not have enough depth for rebar, meaning an increased risk of cracking.

Cost and age are two factors to consider when determining if you should repair or replace your concrete driveway. If your existing driveway is on the older side and the cost of repairs is 50% or more of its value, it might be worth replacing it. Replacing a concrete driveway when it's 20 years old and deteriorating in condition will save you from the cost of repairs that likely wouldn’t save it from replacement in a few years anyway.
