"I have Alex currently at our home doing multiple projects and helping us get the house ready for sale. He is professional, courteous and knowledgeable. Selling is stressful enough; hiring a the right customer to guide you through the preparation has been the key for us. Alex King is a multi talented individual. He has power washed, finished a laundry closet, caulked kitchen and bathroom surfaces, cleaned up our basement, property, refreshed the patio surface and handrails. We are having him do our 25 year old roof as well. He has taken his time to explain everything, materials, cost , how and why. We are very lucky to have found Transcend Contracting. I wish I had found Alex earlier in the homeowners journey. Highly recommend. Hired for multiple projects."

Small jobs welcome

"We hired Aldrin to fix a botched electrical installation, as well as replace several fixtures and install a new shelf and TV. He was extremely efficient, thorough, and professional. He really cared about completing the job in a satisfactory and aesthetically pleasing way, and stayed to make sure it got done. We will definitely hire him again for future needs!"

Caulking Services questions, answered by experts

You can tackle hanging Christmas lights yourself with the right tools, accessories, and a trusted friend or neighbor. You’ll need to purchase a ladder ($100 to $300), clips ($10 to $20), hooks ($10 to $15), and lights ($25 to $100 per string).

Otherwise, you should hire a trusted holiday light installer near you. You’ll pay an average price of $200 to $650, but you’ll have peace of mind knowing that the job is done correctly and safely.

Aside from a professional light installation company, there are a few other pros who may be able to help you hang Christmas lights. Along with specialty holiday decorators, a handyperson near you can also hang Christmas lights (and can fix that pesky drippy sink while they’re at it). Either way, not all of these pros will offer the service, so be sure to call ahead and get multiple quotes before you hire.

While handypeople do not need to be licensed in many places, you should only hire insured pros for any home improvement work. Your handyperson should have active liability coverage that protects them and you in the case of an error or accident. Furthermore, if they have employees on your property, they should also have workers’ compensation insurance. If you hire an individual or a company that is not insured and they damage your property, have an accident while on the job, or become injured on your property without insurance, you can be held financially liable.

A contractor specializes in a specific field. They often operate in teams where they have subcontractors to handle specialized problems. So if you have significant plumbing, drywall, or roofing issues, you’ll want to hire a contractor, as the job may require a team.

A handyperson is typically one person who works on whatever jobs come their way. You wouldn’t call a contractor to fix the hinges on cabinets or paint your room. Instead, a handyperson can handle all these issues, saving you from making multiple phone calls.

From drywall repair to fixture installations, pros address diverse home maintenance needs.
