"This company maintained our pool all summer long. The pool we have is a large gunite pool with salt water, it is hard to maintain and keep clear but they did it. If there was ever an issue or concern, Clinton responded himself within a few hours of contacting them. When our pool filter shorted out in a storm, they were there within 2 days with a new filter and gave us a fair price. The billing is easy, they give you a paper copy as well as send an email providing a bunch of payment options. The receptionist is efficient and someone always responds and answers. They send reminder emails before coming to service your pool. Communication and work is great."

"My pool hit the point where it either needed extensive repairs or replacement. I told Kyle that I had time to wait and he looked for an opportunity over winter for an excellent price on a quality pool. Also, he looked for a pool that fit with our small deck. Great price, trustworthy and quality service. So much better than working with chain store or other pool companies on Long Island. This has been a great experience and we now have a have the pool ready for the entire season (opened in April)."

"I needed a total re-plumb of my in-ground pool and talked with a few companies. Andrew from Bay Side was extremely courteous and answered all my questions. His price was very fair so I decided to go with them. I was very concerned about the destruction to my landscaping. Andrew's team did the job with surgical precision and I ended up not losing one shrub and minimal damage to the lawn. I will be using Bay Side from here on out for all my pool needs."

"Suffolk Liner replaced a leaky old liner for us. This is the second time they have done a liner for us and they are without question the most professional, timely, friendly and reputable firm in the business. They stand behind their installation and products. We had a salesperson named Arik who was absolutely the kindest person you could want. By the the time he took his time showing us the different patterns we could get and how they would look with the pool filled (from pictures on his phone), we were sold on one liner in particular. Not only did they get the liner for us promptly (it was early season) but did the installation flawlessly. By the time Arik finished displaying his products, he felt more like a friend to than a salesman. You get a sense of honesty and trustworthiness in every interaction with Suffolk Liner. I would pay more just to have them do a job because it is clear that thry are professional and stand behind their products. Arik even checked back with us 2 weeks following the installation to confirm that it all went well. How is THAT for customer service! Thank you Suffolk Liner and Arik for a great purchase experience. Ray"

Pool and Spa Servicing questions, answered by experts

Using bubble bath, bath oils, bath salts, or moisturizing products that contain butters or oils can damage your jetted tub. Because of the water pump and jet mechanism, you need to be more selective with products for a jetted tub than you would for a traditional bathtub in order to keep it functioning properly and avoid expensive repairs. These products also leave residue that can feed mildew and mold, so it’s best to avoid them.

The cost to repair a hot tub or spa ranges from about $170 to $550, depending on the repairs needed. Some of the most common hot tub repairs include leaks, clogged filters, and tripped GFCI breakers. If it’s an electrical problem, you should contact a professional hot tub repair service. Don’t DIY electrical repairs on a hot tub, as poorly repaired wiring can make the hot tub a serious electrocution hazard.

Hot tub maintenance can cost between $500 and $1,000 annually. These costs typically cover deep cleaning the tub, refilling it several times a year, and maintaining the water's chemical balance. While you can perform maintenance yourself, a professional can clean and treat your hot tub with chemicals to save you time. The biggest expenses are often heating and repairs, but regular maintenance can help you avoid more complicated and costly repairs and preserve your investment.

Yes, hot tubs can use a significant amount of electricity, primarily to keep the water heated. A typical hot tub uses between 1,500 and 6,000 watts, and the pump can add another 1,500 watts. This usage can result in a monthly cost of around $20 to $30. The exact amount of electricity consumed depends on several factors, including the hot tub's age, size, heater voltage (120V vs. 240V), usage habits, and thermostat setting. Newer, energy-efficient models generally use less power than older ones. To reduce electricity costs, consider investing in an energy-efficient model, using a quality insulated cover with a thermal blanket, and keeping the filters clean.

Yes, but only if it is a freshwater tub (not saltwater) and if you make sure the chlorine and bromine levels are below 1 ppm.
