"Scott is the owner and my issue was, I have a very time wealth and very expensive carpet. I was trying to clean some spots from my kitty cat, grabbed the wrong bottle and used something with bleach in it. I had horrible bleach that spots in the carpet. The carpet is not available anymore and I found this guy from Angie’s List for carpet dyeing and he is of the few certified people in the Northeast. They came in here, lied down on my carpet, and applied layers of color. You cannot find it and the spots were gone. It was an extraordinary work and he is an artisan. The price was good. It was not cheap but the carpet worth a couple of thousand dollars. He guaranteed the work that if it fades, they will come back. It has been over the year and has not faded. He is extraordinary and understands what he was doing. I will recommend him to anybody that needed carpet repair. It was $500. He fixed the carpet that would worth considerably more than that and was not replaceable. He was great. I had tried everything and I really thought I was screwed because the carpet was not available anymore. I know what I was going to do. If ever I need to, I will use him again. I recommended him to a couple of other people who had a couple of different types of problems. I do not know how that came out but I know it was right."

Carpet Stretching questions, answered by experts

Carpet glue is very sticky, but it's not permanent. The glue usually lasts as long as a typical carpet installation, which is five to 15 years. For the best results, you should always use the right type of carpet glue for the area you're using it in. There are carpet glues for high-traffic areas, which are more high-quality and durable than others.

Yes, carpeted stairs are generally considered safer than stairs with hard surfaces like wood, vinyl, or tile. Carpet provides more traction, which helps reduce the chances of slips and falls, and its cushioning can lessen the severity of an injury if a fall does occur. Hard surfaces often lack the friction needed for a secure tread and can be quite slippery.

However, it's worth noting that some carpets can also be slick, particularly if they are brand new, dirty, or made from certain materials. If any stair surface feels too slippery, traction treads can be added to most materials to increase grip and improve safety.

How long carpet dye lasts depends on the quality of the dye and the application process. At a minimum, dyed carpets keep their color for a year, but some can last longer. Many factors affect how long carpet dye lasts, including the amount of UV rays that hit the carpet, causing it to fade. However, the good news is you can have your carpet dyed annually to keep up the color.

Deciding whether to clean or replace your carpet depends on its condition and age. If cleaning no longer resolves issues, it's time to consider a replacement. Key signs that you need to replace your carpet include:

  • Stains that are impossible to remove.

  • A persistent smell that lingers even after cleaning.

  • An increase in allergy symptoms.

  • The age of the carpet. Most manufacturers state that carpets should last about 10 years with proper care.

When cleaning is no longer effective, you should replace the carpet with a new one or consider other flooring options like vinyl or laminate.

Your room doesn’t need to be completely empty to restretch a carpet, but you’ll need enough space that you can move around furniture to access the wrinkled areas and the wall where you’re reattaching the carpet. A contractor will move your furniture out of the way before they start the job, but you can save money by moving your furniture before they arrive.
