"Nick from Tri-M Pools opened the pool and spa this week. He is truly a professional. He is courteous and we enjoyed meeting him. By the second day the water was sparkling....not a bit of green. By the third day Tri-M vacuumed and cleaned the pool and it is ready to go. Both Nick and Joel are consistent in responding to emails and phone calls. They have a clear and comprehensive contract that gives the options of a full service inclusive or service plus chemicals. We chose the full service inclusive so we know exactly what our seasonal costs will be (exceptions can occur for unexpected repairs). Even though we are new customers, they are accommodating us to provide weekly service on the day we requested."

"Christopher repaired my hot tub, which had major leaks. Before hiring Home Hot Tubs, I hired several well-known repair companies, but none were able to fix the problems. Christopher took on the task & got the job done! He is extremely polite, professional, & clearly takes pride in his work. I highly recommend this company."

Pool and Spa Servicing questions, answered by experts

When your hot tub is completely dry, there is typically no need to introduce antifreeze into the plumbing. However, if you desire an extra layer of protection against potential freeze damage, you can consider adding some RV antifreeze to your hot tub lines. Just ensure that you use RV antifreeze specifically, as automotive antifreeze is highly toxic and should be avoided.

For a fully-foamed hot tub, freezing typically occurs when the temperature drops below 28 degrees Fahrenheit and remains at or below this level continuously for a minimum of 36 hours. If your hot tub and pumps are still operational, however, the water circulates, and this continuous movement helps prevent freezing, even in very cold conditions. This circulation, along with the insulation provided by the foam, helps maintain the water temperature and prevent it from freezing during extended cold periods. Still, if you’re not planning to run it regularly, be sure to winterize the hot tub properly to prevent damage from freezing.

Follow these general safety tips for spas and hot tubs:

  • Keep your exterior electrical receptacles covered and dry, especially around your hot tub and pool during periods of use.

  • Make sure you have a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) properly installed to ensure no one gets accidentally shocked or injured by electrocution.

  • Don’t use the hot tub or your pool during a thunderstorm.

  • Before using the hot tub, have a certified electrician thoroughly inspect your hot tub and its wiring to make sure you’re in full compliance with all applicable local building codes.

Yes, hot tubs can use a significant amount of electricity, primarily to keep the water heated. A typical hot tub uses between 1,500 and 6,000 watts, and the pump can add another 1,500 watts. This usage can result in a monthly cost of around $20 to $30. The exact amount of electricity consumed depends on several factors, including the hot tub's age, size, heater voltage (120V vs. 240V), usage habits, and thermostat setting. Newer, energy-efficient models generally use less power than older ones. To reduce electricity costs, consider investing in an energy-efficient model, using a quality insulated cover with a thermal blanket, and keeping the filters clean.

You should drain your hot tub three to four times a year to give it a thorough cleaning. This should take about an hour, but it depends on the size of your tub.
