"i recently had a tesla charger installed, and i am extremely satisfied with the service. the electrician did an outstanding job he was professional, knowledgeable, and completed the installation much faster than i expected while maintaining excellent quality. the work was clean, efficient, and everything was installed perfectly. on top of that, his pricing was very reasonable compared to other estimates i received. it’s not often you find someone who delivers great workmanship, works efficiently, and offers affordable rates. i highly recommend him to anyone needing electrical work or an ev charger installation."

"These guys are fantastic. I called for them and they came within the hour. The foreman is very professional, thorough and courtesy. He noticed and immediately discussed things that needed correction. I had two fans installed in my great room and the price he gave me was extremely fair. He even changed my halogen bulbs from my high ceiling to LED. The explanation of each course of action was given in detail, and with enough comprehension for understanding. These gentlemen cleanup quickly. If you need to have electrical work done, Ohms electricians are trustworthy electricians."

"Awesome ... fans look and work great, very clean spackling job, new switch and dimmer are perfect, and chandelier is nice & bright again! Very Professional and Personable! Used drop clothes throughout the working area, on carpeting and furniture. Before leaving, they vacuumed and put everything back in their original locations. "All the Green Audit folks we worked with - Dan who did the initial walk through, Oz who managed all aspects of the project and Mike and the technicians that performed the work - all were easy to work with. They were on time, kept us informed about scheduled work, answered all our questions and were a pleasure to do business with. A key reason to use this company is their in-depth knowledge of the various programs that are available to help cover the costs of the needed improvements. The scope of the work included using spray foam and other insulation methods to insulate the inside attic walls and ceiling and the rim joists in the basement. They removed potential asbestos-containing insulation from our steam pipes and then used appropriate insulation on the steam and hot water pipes. They replaced inefficient light bulbs with LED's. As a result of their improvements our house is warmer and the boiler doesn't come on as often."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

A typical fan installation takes between two and six hours. The exact timeframe can be influenced by factors such as the home's structure, existing electrical characteristics, ease of attic access, and whether complex wiring or additional attic ventilation work is required.

In short, no. You can use the square footage range chart in this article to determine the right size ceiling fan for both indoor and outdoor spaces. However, weather elements can damage types of ceiling fans that aren't designed for outdoor use, so your ceiling fan should be weather-resistant if you plan to install it outside.

No, a ceiling fan doesn’t have to be wired to a switch, but it’s often more convenient. You can use the included pull chain if your ceiling isn’t too high or install a remote module later, as they are a cheap, easy-to-install option that’ll let you control both the fan and light fixture.

To determine if your ceiling box can support a fan, you must check if it is specifically fan-rated. Manufacturers are required to indicate this on the box itself. You may need to remove the existing light fixture to look inside the ceiling box for an inscription stating it is rated for fan use. If you do not see this confirmation, the box is likely not strong enough and must be replaced with a fan-rated junction box. For a proper and safe installation, you should also use a fan brace to secure the new box between the ceiling joists, which provides the necessary support for the fan's weight and motion.

Whether you can install a ceiling fan yourself depends on if you're replacing an existing fixture or installing one where no wiring exists. If you are replacing an existing fan, an experienced DIYer may be able to do the job, which can save on labor costs. This work typically doesn’t require a permit, but there’s always a safety risk when dealing with electrical components, so hiring a pro is still a good idea, especially if you aren't handy. Keep in mind you may need a special ladder for high or vaulted ceilings. However, if you are installing a new ceiling fan where there is no current fixture, you must hire a licensed electrician. In most areas, it is required by law that a professional runs new wiring and pulls the necessary permits. Attempting to install wiring yourself can be dangerous and a code violation.
