"This was a great experience. Serge responded quickly, showed up to appointment on time and all thru the repairs he delivered exactly what he said he would when he said it would be done. He and his employees are clean, professional and very considerate of us and our property. We had a list of some large and some small projects, the first were new basement stairs replacing the 100+ year old, shaky, irregular ones. Because of their condition we rarely went in the basement in the 24 years we have lived here. The stairs that were built onsite are so stable and comfortable we are now using them often, allowing us so much more storage options. We needed exterior stairs to a new out building. I imagined a simple step but what Serge gave us was a beautiful step and deck finished off more beautifully than some "finish" work we had done inside our house by a different contractor. Also we had 2 areas of open ceilings that needed insulation for the spaces above them, one in our basement and one in our barn, neither space is used for anything other than storage and yet the work is clean and tidy with Serge going the extra mile of adding more supports when he thought that the insulation might sag over time. There were other minor repairs that were tended to with equal amount of detail and removal of all debris. Serge also offered to haul away anything else we had at no extra cost other than the per pound charge at the weigh station. Material purchases were a separate expense and Serge emailed all receipts for purchases and returns ensuring an accurate and efficient accounting system. We already have a new "My Town" list started and are excited to finally have some issues around our 150 year old house attended to properly. We HIGHLY recommend their services. "
"R-Factor Insulation Company does very good work. They insulated my crawl space and did a wonderful job. The owner Mr. Knapp was very professional and came out and gave a free estimate on the work. The job estimate was right on the price with no cost over runs at the completion of the job. I had other estimates that were much higher on the same work to be done."

Plaster walls typically last between 30 and 70 years, but depending on the quality of the materials and the moisture levels in the building, they can last for over 100 years. With expert application and consistent maintenance, plaster can even last for centuries. To extend its lifespan, it is important to have the plaster professionally installed, address any water damage promptly, and repair small cracks as they appear. Regular inspections by a professional can help identify and address concerning cracks before they become significant issues.
A jigsaw is commonly used to cut holes in drywall. It offers versatility and precision, making it suitable for creating circular or irregular openings. When equipped with the right blade, a jigsaw can swiftly and cleanly cut through drywall, making it a good choice for DIY projects.
Drywall can be toxic to the environment and to humans in some cases. As drywall breaks down in a landfill and comes in contact with other organic chemicals, it can create hydrogen sulfide gas or leach into the groundwater. Additionally, the CDC recommends methods for controlling the inhalation of drywall dust when handled. While the common ingredients of drywall—gypsum, silica, and mica—are naturally occurring, they can cause irritation in some humans.
There are several things you should not do when installing drywall. Common mistakes include: adding too many screws, over-sanding, not adding backing support, and installing drywall unevenly. You also should avoid screwing into the same place twice, installing Sheetrock with tapered edges on the outside, and making too many joints.
You can take a few steps to save money on drywall installation, even when hiring a professional to do the bulk of the work for you. These ideas include the following:
Buy the drywall and other materials yourself to avoid product markup and delivery fees
Ask about discounts if you use the same company to tape, spackle, and paint
Hire drywall professionals in the winter when demand is the lowest
DIY as many parts of the project as possible, like replacing insulation and painting
