I also buy heating oil from them and buy their service plan during the winter. Everyone I talked to on the phone and who came out to the house was very friendly and nice. They came and took out the old boiler, they were done for the day,The owner had other jobs on his mind, I THINK THAT IS CALLED GREED. I was let with electric heaters which would have been OK for one night but MR. Miller wanted this to go on for days or even a week . American Greed, the new America. I took 3 days for them to do the job. Which should have been done in one. A small house a small boiler. The old zones were never checked, Ed Miller never checks any thing. There for this 6,000.00 boiler doesn't work well. Being I had a very LARGE argument with Ed MILLER I can not use him to correct the problem. If the zones were replace at the same time as the boiler the price would have been cheaper. Now the system has to drain to replace the zones. I should have never paid him and let him take me to court. The job was started late in the morning, the worker took their lunch break which they are intitiled to have. At the end of the day the job was not even half finished. I have a very small house and a day and a half should should have done the job with time to spare. Day Two it was about 1 o; clock before one worker showed up, day three same thing went on. There was a day fore to I just don'tremember that day to well any more. I did have a very large argument with the owner Edward Miller. I am a senior, a women that lives alone, that makes me a good victim. I don't think the job was ever finish up properly and check for problems because of the arguement. I did pay the bill, I don't steel from others. Edward Miller did not ask for a depot. What have leaned about this plumbing company ABC Plumping, the work is done at their time and convence. Small plumbing jobs maybe put before your unfinished work. To bad this had to become a night mare. It is January and guess what the heat is not working properly. I called and it was a few day for service, the mediocre check up only last a few days before same problem returned. I got a bill for $50.00 for a few day of heat, I guess that comes out to $10.00 a day for heat.

We were renting, and our landlord wanted an idea when we would be moving out so he could re-rent the property. We had to change that date three times and we finally were pretty much forced to move because our landlord had new tenants and we had to get out by October 31st. Marv worked at a snails pace arriving about 10:30 in the morning and leaving by 3:00 in the afternoon. We told Marv we were moving in October 31st and he had to have it ready. He didn't get the plumbing or running water done until the afternoon of November 1st. There was no insulation in the roof, so all the heat is going out the roof. He has gone way over budget with his estimate. We have used up all the money that he told us it would cost to complete this. When I confronted him about it, he told me I would have to go back to the bank and ask for more money! The cabin is not nearly finished, all the money is gone and I still need to buy the flooring for the first floor, the kitchen cabinets and the upstairs bathroom. We have the materials for the walls and roof, but I have to hire someone else to put it up. I got so frustrated with Marv's "oh well" attitude, I fired him and told him to get his tools off my property. I called my fiance and told him what happened and he put Marv's tools out on the porch. My fiance had to run a quick errand and was back to the cabin 45 minutes later. The tools were gone and Marv's son had P***** in the new snow on the ground in front our steps the word "SCUMBAG"! DISGUSTING!!! I called Marv to let him have it and told him how unprofessional that was. Since then, I had to hire an electrician to fix the mess that Marv left with the electricity so it would pass inspection. That cost $750 and took the guy two days to figure out what Marv had done. I have hired some Amish to finish putting up the insulation, the siding in the peaks and the walls inside. I'll have to omit the upstairs bathroom for now so I can buy kitchen cabinets and flooring. Just the labor is going to cost $5500 to finish. It has been a complete nightmare dealing with Marvin Barron. I would never recommend him to anyone! Gary was very familiar with the Navien series of combi-boilers. He perforned the replacement of a leaking heat exchanger quickly, purged the air and conducted tests to insure everything was working perfectly
Called back same day and came next day at the time he said and fixed the heating elements in the electric water heater when he came. Was quick, neat, professional, and reasonable price.

"Astar: S#!tshow Incorporated An absolute catastrophe from the moment I sent them money until they finally got their act together to finish the project four and a half months later (with mediocre results at best). Their ability to communicate was abysmal and they utterly failed to take any sort of meaningful responsibility several times over. They proved unable to track information both internally and especially coming from me (even by email!) and in the end seem not to have much of an understanding of the products they sell. The trouble initially arose from their failure to note the several times I told them I was in Putnam rather than Dutchess county. It turns out they're not licensed to work in Putnam, but rather than doing the right thing and telling me that so that we could find a solution, they gave me nebulous excuses about how there was a snag with the electrical permit and that it was going to take a little more time. They were quick to get some things installed (probably so I couldn't walk away from the contract if I learned what was really going on), but then were unresponsive and would only give me a runaround on when things would happen and never answered my questions fully. This issue almost screwed me out of a rebate as I had to tell them several times that I'm with NYSEG instead of Central Hudson before they got it right. Their initial timing estimate left me with the choice of shlepping diesel for a few weeks to keep my hot water running or dealing with 100+ gallons of fuel oil when the job was done, so I went with the former. That would've been easy if it had hit their early target of two weeks and a reasonable but manageable hassle at their late target of six. They left me cold for three unexpected months (Jan-Apr) during which I spent many hours and hundreds of dollars on diesel, firewood, and electric heaters (not to mention an astronomical electric bill). In compensation they took roughly $1200 off my $43000 bill, which feels about like getting a dollar tip on a $20 check. Along the way, there were other issues (such as their plan to leave the boiler "as a backup" for me to deal with despite my having told their sales rep point blank that my whole aim was to remove the boiler). The quality of work was OK, but by no means great. The vents they use are absurdly cheap, don't really open & close properly, and the control knob frequently comes out when I try to operate them. Information from the installation planning meeting was either ignored or changed on the fly but their technicians, and one of their guys gouged my mechanical room door while removing the old boiler tank (which would've been easily avoided with the extra minute's work to put a blanket over it) & didn't so much as apologize for it. On top of it all, I'm still finding trash from the job around my property. Finally, their design of the system doesn't allow different rooms to run different functions; an issue I never would have accepted if I'd known. (for what it's worth, that seemed a surprise to the technician who came back to address the non-functioning thermostat they initially left me with). Also: upon the end their last scheduled install day, and with zero warning that this was going to happen, the installer demanded that I pay the remaining $23000 balance right then and there as though everyone simply has that amount of cash in their checking account or available on their credit card at all times and would not leave until I put half on a card, only accepting the half payment because I could name issues they still needed to come back and fix. Jason, the rep that sold me the system in the first place was kind, courteous, and gave me lots of faith in that company. I don't believe that was misleading me intentionally, but I deeply wish that they'd sent someone less likable and more reflective of the way their company actually operates. They sell an image of professionalism that absolutely misrepresents them as a company. Listen to the complaints about their outlandish pricing and terrible service. Jason told me that Yelp offered to scrub the bad reviews for them for an exorbitant amount of money and to trust the other sites, but I can only conclude that it's a lot cheaper to manage your brand image on Angi and other, less ubiquitous review sites."

FAQs for heating oil service projects in Oneonta, NY
To buy heating oil for your house, contact local heating oil companies to compare prices and place an order once you decide on a supplier. The company will have to deliver your heating oil in a truck designed to carry and dispense heating oil safely. Call and order your heating oil early enough to have your oil delivered before you need to start using it for home heating.
On average, you’ll need about two gallons of oil per day to heat your house when it’s 50 degrees Fahrenheit outside. Most oil tank capacity is about 275 gallons, and heating your house with two gallons of oil per day will last about four and a half months. This consumption will vary depending on the climate and average temperature in your location. For example, if the winters are longer and colder where you live, you’ll probably need to refill your oil tank at least once to get through the winter.
You save money on heating oil in a few ways:
Make sure your home is well insulated and sealed against drafts and heat leakage.
Use a thermostat that’s working properly and calibrated accurately.
Program your thermostat to lower the heat when you’re not home.
Order heating oil during the off-season when prices are likely to be lower.
Summer months tend to be when heating oil prices are lowest because of decreased demand. Buying heating oil during the off-season also prepares you for when the weather gets cold, and you need to start using the oil to heat your home. Although heating oil prices will fluctuate, it’s best to avoid purchasing between September and April, as that's the peak season for heating oil demand.
Overall, heating your home with an oil furnace tends to be less expensive than heating your home with an electric heating system. Oil heating systems stay warm for longer periods of time without drawing a constant electrical current to maintain a temperature. Plus, heating oil systems typically have a longer lifespan and lower price tag than their electrical counterparts, resulting in short- and long-term savings.
