Small jobs welcome

"At first Dennis explain the process of the lead inspection. I felt comfortable with his knowledge. The appointment was kept on time, I was impressed by Denis respect of my property, how he left his wet shoes by the door. The results were email the following day and the certified notarized report arrived by UPS few days later. All went fast, smooth and on time. It was a great Job well done and on time. Thanks."

"BP Alliance was very professional and insightful in doing what was required by the city in a lead abatement. Mr. Booker answered questions and concerns in ways I could understand a support. Having a personal meeting with all the major parties allowed for a smooth preparation, abatement and re-entry into the space. All the inspections, test and follow through with the city were arranged and done in a timely fashion."

"ECS came to our rescue when no one else was able to. It was shortly after Ida had rolled through Mamaroneck and the lower level of our house had flooded. We had wonderful friends and family help us empty out all of our waterlogged belongings and get the contents ready for removal by the town but we were left with an empty shell of a basement and garage - but for the disgusting mold that had started to grow by the day after the storm. We called around to find mold remediation services that would be able to help us and we were disappointed several times. One company even came and did a walk through to write up a report and never sent an estimate! Late one night I was googling to try and find another company and I was guided to Angi/Home Advisor. Never having used it before I was a little skeptical but I figured I had nothing to lose. I filled out the information about the job we needed done and immediately got one hit - with a 5 star rating I must add! ECS Inc. was our match. I figured I’d call them the next day because it was already well after 9pm. Well, the owner of the company called me 20min after the company name came up. He arranged to do a walkthrough the next day, got us an estimate within 24h and started work with a 5 person crew within 48h. The team was amazingly professional. The work they did was stellar and they were done in half the time the other companies had quoted us. The space was spotless from floor to ceiling with not one whiff of mold to be sniffed! If you ever need work like this done on your home, I recommend this company without reservation. We are so grateful we found them when we did."

Lead Testing and Removal questions, answered by experts

No, a standard home inspection includes the basics and does not offer lead paint testing. Professional lead paint inspectors need specific licenses to perform these inspections, which not all home inspectors have. If you suspect lead paint in the home you are about to purchase, you will need to pay separately to have that done. If the findings come back positive, you may be able to negotiate with the buyer to cover the cost of the removal.

Properties should be tested for lead every 2-3 years, especially if they are older, have undergone renovations, or show deterioration of paint or interior finishes.

If your house was built before 1978 and you’re noticing cracking or peeling paint, a lead paint inspection is a good idea. A lead paint inspection gives you accurate information about the presence, location, and condition of lead-based paint in your home. This information is essential for making informed decisions about lead paint removal to ensure your safety and health and that of your family. If your inspector finds lead, you’ll need to take steps to manage or remove the lead-based paint and comply with laws and regulations.

If lead is detected in a property, steps should include arranging for professional removal or containment, notifying all occupants, and implementing interim safety measures to reduce exposure.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), hazardous waste is generally classified into four main categories:

1. Characteristic Wastes: These exhibit at least one of four hazardous traits: ignitability (flammable, like gasoline), corrosivity (can rust or decompose materials, like car batteries), reactivity (unstable and can explode, like aerosol cans), or toxicity (harmful when ingested, like lead-based paint).

2. Listed Wastes: These are specific wastes from manufacturing and industrial processes that the EPA has officially designated as hazardous. They include byproducts from processes that use solvents, pesticides, and other chemicals.

3. Universal Wastes: These are commonly generated hazardous items that are subject to streamlined regulations. Examples include batteries, pesticides, mercury-containing equipment (e.g., bulbs), and some lamps.

4. Mixed Wastes: This category includes waste that contains both hazardous and radioactive components, making it subject to regulation by both the EPA and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
