"This project was chaos from the start due to some unknowns about the floor glue. We reworked the contract multiple times to consider this contingency, but in the end, I realize I did not understand the various exceptions. In either case, more trouble ensued when I was assured TheAbatementGroup could meet the condo insurance requirement. I send over the blank form. But then at the last minute I was told the coverage was not adequate and had to play mediator between my condo and TheAbatementGroup for a few days to reach a compromise. This caused tempers to flare on all sides. Eventually the proposal was approved and the work started. As I made clear in various texts and over the phone, the reason I picked TheAbatementGroup over other providers was what seemed like attention to detail and I had a bad experience before where personal items ended up covered in dust. I wanted to be sure all those items were well sealed off from the work. I wrote: “For the record, my primary concern is dust prevention, not paint damage.” I expressed concern that some blue tape was coming off. I also wrote via text that I wanted to wipe down the plastic before removal in case dust covered the outside. TheAbatementGroup responded that was “it can’t hurt to wipe down”. While not in writing, I also stated that I did not want to hire a second person to put up plastic for the other work that needed to happen after the mold was removed. But in the end, about half the plastic fell off before I received clearance that the condo was mold free. Clearly, TheAbatementGroup left up the plastic for a reason. Most crew will remove plastic when the work in complete. I was never able to wipe the plastic down. Dust flew off when the plastic fell. And now I need to hire another contractor to redo the same work. This was a $10,000 project and most man hours were related to the plastic protection. I would never have paid $10,000 to rip up 10 square feet of wood and wall and run 3 HEPA machines. But the work area is next to my kitchen where the plastic fell first. Not to mention the washer/dryer closet. When I complained about the plastic, I was told when the work was done, the plastic was still up. But I do not count the work done until I’m able to enter the condo after the mold test result. And, as mentioned, I said in writing the top priority for this work was keeping up the plastic not paint damage. I also cannot pinpoint when the plastic fell since I have security cameras that face different directions at different times. When the mold inspector walked through the condo for the clearance test, I did see some plastic appeared loose. But most fell down at some point between the inspection and clearance report. In summary, there were several headaches with this project, but what drove this complaint is coming home to see the plastic on the floor. I expected the plastic to remain until wiped down at the end. Plastic is there to keep particles out and thus accumulates them on the surface and should be taken down with care. Likewise, all the floor that was removed for the mold remediation must be replaced, and I asked for the plastic to remain until that was complete. There is no sense to hire two people to do the same work. Especially at this price level."

"Rainbow came to the rescue after a botched roofing job by a shady Bronx contractor left multiple exposed areas in my roof and gutters, causing severe water damage throughout my entire house for both me and my tenants after a severe thunderstorm hit. They sent their guys up onto the roof in the pouring rain to cover up the exposed areas to prevent further damage and set up dehumidifiers and fans throughout the house.
