Small jobs welcome

"Angelo is such an artist when he does tile work. He tiled my bathroom which had some major issues I told Angelo about. He actually found time a month earlier than thought to finish my floor He is trustworthy dependable, and charges a fair amount. He finished my floor in 2 days and it looks beautiful. The problems I had were repaired and you would never know there was a problem. He is a good person and loves his children and family. If anyone is looking for an excellent tile person call Angelo at Tileandall. Iâ m proud to be able to give this glowing review."

"I was desperate. My new stove came 2 days before Thanksgiving and didn't fit, by less than 1/8th inch! Matt came the next morning to shave off the edge of the counter so it would fit. He returned the following week to fill cracks in the granite behind my sink. I have been searching for someone for a year! Very knowledgeable, did a very clean job, including resealing the silicone inside around the sink edges, and was a true gentleman. Well worth the reasonable fee he asked for,"

"Marcos and his crew redid my back patio by pitching it away from the house so water would drain . He also added on to the patio using both my pavers and additional ones . He used Belgian blocks as an edge. Most importantly, he fit pieces perfectly around areas which could not use a whole paver. Magnificent job all around."

"I hired Kerry to install a serious wood beam in my garage to bolster a sagging garage ceiling. The price was reasonable and the work was done in a day. They showed up when they said they would and cleaned up afterwards. I was very happy and would certainly use Kerry again."

"Mark was very responsive when I called him and came quickly to view the bathrooms so he could give me an estimate. I found his estimate reasonable and we scheduled the work for the next day. "I could not recommend Harold's Enterprises more highly. I reached out to Harold based on his listing on Angie's List before I bought my home--free of charge, he took a look at the roof on a property I was considering buying--giving me an estimate and advice. His help led me to find that the sellers were dishonest about the condition of and work done on their roof, and I purchased a different property in Hudson, NY. My home is a 1927 Craftsman that needed quite a bit of work. I hired Harold based on his honesty and responsiveness in helping me evaluate the first property. True to form, his estimate and ultimate cost to repaint the entire interior, repair and sheetrock floors and ceilings, refinish and replace hardwood floors, completely remodel a bathroom, rewire and install light fixtures, match original woodworking, install cabinetry, windows, and appliances, and even assist with installing new furniture, were more than reasonable. Better yet, the quality of his work was of the highest caliber. He has restored and improved a lovely home, and I am so thankful! I have to say that most of all, I am so happy with Harold's professionalism and diligence. Not every contractor is known for staying on the job and completing it on time. Especially in my situation, where I am a single woman trying to restore a second home when I live out of state--I assumed I would have difficulty in getting any contractor to be present and complete the job on time. However, this was never a problem. Harold was always there, was immediately responsive, and never slacked off when I wasn't there. I plan to work with Harold as much as possible in the future as I continue to improve my Hudson home. I recommend him very highly."

Granite Restoration FAQs, answered by experts

The frequency for sealing granite countertops depends on several factors, including the type of sealant used, the color of the granite, and how heavily the countertops are used. As a general guideline, resealing is often recommended every 12 to 18 months, but some sources suggest it could be as often as every few months or at least once a year.

The type of sealant is a major factor: water-based sealants may need reapplication every six months to a year, while more durable solvent-based sealants can last for five to 10 years. Additionally, factors like heavy kitchen traffic, frequent use of acidic cleaners, and lighter granite colors may require more frequent sealing to prevent staining.

To determine if your countertops need resealing, you can perform a simple water test. Place a few drops of water or a wet paper towel on an inconspicuous area of the granite. After 10 to 15 minutes, check the spot. If the water has beaded up, the seal is still intact. If the water has been absorbed and darkened the stone, it's time to apply a new coat of sealant. You can choose to seal the granite yourself or hire a professional to ensure it's done correctly.

Both buffing and polishing increase the longevity of your floors by removing scratches and buildup, but they are different processes. Polishing removes the top layer of your floor, removing surface-level scuffs and scratches. Buffing your floor involves filling the scratches and scuffs with a buffing solution. No matter which method you choose, you can rest assured that both techniques will leave your floor looking shiny and new.

Unfortunately, the product Bar Keepers Friend won’t remove etching from stone countertops. In fact, it can make it worse. Bar Keepers Friend contains oxalic acid, which can cause further damage to natural stones like marble or limestone.

The best cleaning method to use for your project will depend on the specifics of that project. However, sandblasting does come with the risk of damaging the surface you’re trying to clean. One safer alternative to sandblasting is laser cleaning, which can remove many of the same contaminants with a lower risk of damage and a lower overall cost.

Use pH-neutral cleaners specifically designed for stone surfaces to clean granite or marble. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners that can damage the sealant or the stone itself. Regular re-sealing helps protect the surface from stains and damage.
