"I just had them prune some trees, remove a big one, and grind down the stump, and I couldn’t be happier! The team was super friendly and professional. They did a fantastic job on the pruning, and the tree removal was quick and safe. The stump grinding was seamless, and they left my yard looking great. Overall, I highly recommend these guys for any tree work you need. Thanks for the awesome service!"

"Hector and Moises were excellent! Hector came with one other of their crew and assembled my permanent gazebo. I have stone pavers and they were very careful in cutting them and digging Deep enough to establish a good anchor. They even installed railings for my back stoop. I would highly recommend them! Clean... affordable and professional."

"Working with John was very easy and professional. He was easy to get in touch with and followed up with any questions we had. We were concerned about alot of large branches of large trees. He was knowledgeable and guided us what to do. He came with his crew as scheduled despite the rain and got the job done quickly, efficiently and thoroughly. They were not only exceptional in their skill , they cleared away all remnants of the cutting, and the bonus was that they took away some of our left over logs and summer plant debris that was in the yard. . We highly recommend them."

"They came first over for a quote and inspection of access to our back yard. I was advised that my cement walkway may be damaged by the weight of their equipment which was fine since I am planning on having it replaced. The day of, they arrived promptly around noon time with a large truck and a 6 man crew. They quickly began to work and nearly finished the job by sundown. Since it was 4 large trees, they had to come back in the morning to complete the task. They removed all debris and grinned the stumps."

"Don't write many reviews, but when a company does a tremendous job it is clearly well deserved. Found Ercick's company through Home Advisor reviews. Called him and he timely showed up the next day for the estimate. Quoted the fee (didn't know if it was high or low) and said his team could do the tree trimming job the next day, so I went with him. He was very professional and thorough during the estimate visit. Erick and his team promptly showed up the next day and banged out a pretty decent sized job in under three hours. Erick remained on site and supervised all facets of the job. He asked for my input when needed. With the extensive amount of equipment needed and the number of staff members used, it became clear the fee charged was definitely reasonable. Very highly recommend Erick and All Island Tree Service."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

The best time to prune Japanese flowering cherry trees depends on where you live and the type of flowering cherry tree. Some trees benefit from being pruned toward the end of winter or early spring, after the last freeze. Meanwhile, other trees do well after blooming, in late spring or early summer. Avoid pruning your flowering cherry tree in the early winter, as this encourages open wounds that can lead to infections or infestations.

Hiring an arborist or tree surgeon is usually more expensive than a standard tree company, but it is often worth the investment. Arborists have education and certifications that standard companies typically lack, leading to a more professional, expert-level service. Their expertise is particularly valuable for diseased or infested trees, as they can ensure safer removal and help prevent the issue from spreading. Additionally, arborists may be necessary for work near power lines, as uncertified companies are often not permitted to service these trees. If your goal is to preserve the health of your trees, an arborist is the best choice. Their services, such as stump grinding, are also performed with greater expertise to ensure a safe depth that won't cause your lawn to collapse over time.

You can start your search for a reputable arborist online by looking for professionals who hold the proper licensing and are fully insured. Next, read through some online reviews to see what kind of service the expert brings to the table, and confirm that they don’t have a history of complaints with the Better Business Bureau. Finally, you can ask the professional for a list of references and then call them to ask questions about the service, professionalism, value, and more that the expert brings to the table.

It’s not always easy to tell when a tree is dying, although signs like dropping branches and brittle bark can sometimes offer clues. It can also be difficult to know whether a tree is dead or dormant, especially if it’s a deciduous tree. You’ll want to wait until a growth season to get a good idea of a tree’s health. When in doubt, contact an arborist for a consultation.

Tree trimming can count as landscaping, depending on how a landscaping business describes its services. Professional tree trimmers are more specialized than landscapers and offer trimming services separately from general landscaping.

When general landscaping companies offer tree trimming, look up the details. They usually mean shaping or seasonal trimming of ornamental trees, which is different from trimming larger trees for health or safety reasons. When possible, look for a licensed expert that specializes in trees and tree health.
