"Mr. Terry was a well-spoken, knowledgable individual whom I was very confident in immediately after our first meeting for my free estimate. He was polite and explained his process to me in a way that I could better understand. It was very clear that he is serious and puts a lot of pride in his work. They were quick and efficient in repairing my roof and I have had no issues since. I highly recommend this company and receiving your free estimate from them."

"Frank was able to come on a Saturday, which was convenient for me. He was very friendly. He checked the fuse box and the gas line, before checking the furnace. He saw the thermocouple was burnt out, so he started by replacing that. He lit the pilot, and the furnace came on. In less than an hour, my furnace was working again. I will call Mr. & Mrs. Fix It again if another problem arises."

"Their quote was more then I could afford. Also was not what I wanted to do to repair the retaining wall. They wanted to buy new stone when all I wanted was to have the existing stone used and just restack it."

"We were so sad to learn of Co-owner Mike Armstrong’s passing at age 30 yrs of Done Right Construction.. He was a hard worker and knowledgeable in his work. His co-owner Joe who we also liked very much came back to finish up the project even after the shock of losing his partner. Becky Myers"

Retaining Wall Installers questions, answered by experts

They prevent soil erosion, add flat space, and enhance property aesthetics.

The lifespan of a retaining wall varies based on its material, installation quality, maintenance, and local climate, with an average range of 20 to 100 years. Retaining walls made from durable materials like concrete, stone, and brick generally last a minimum of 50 years. Concrete walls typically last between 50 and 100 years, while brick can last for over a century in ideal conditions. Timber retaining walls can last from 20 to 40 years, depending on the wood quality, and pressure-treated wood walls average around 30 years. It is important to note that a retaining wall can fail prematurely if it was poorly constructed, for example, with inefficient footings or without necessary rebar reinforcements.

Even if you think you know how to build a retaining wall theoretically, doing the actual work is a completely different story. There are lots of nuances in building retaining walls, and the slightest oversight can compromise their integrity. Therefore, we recommend you hire a pro to build, repair, or replace retaining walls.

While vinyl is the least costly material for building a retaining wall, the most cost-effective method is to use wood or concrete blocks for a DIY retaining wall under 2 feet tall. Wood is inexpensive but lasts 20 years or more with care. Concrete can cost a little more but is stronger and will last longer with less maintenance.

Failure to compact the soil during construction is the most common cause of leaning retaining walls. In addition, poor drainage can lead to excessive water pressure behind a retaining wall, pushing against it until it begins to move forward away from the soil it is holding back.
