"We had a mish-mash of cracked and heaving concrete, multiple types of pavers and drainage issues. It needed to be fixed and we wanted an aesthetically pleasing yard. The owner of the company, Connor, met with us at our property and discussed the work needed, potential materials and other considerations. He worked WITH us to fully develop the project plan to deliver our vision. Connor was onsite daily, paid attention to detail and communicated effectively. We now have unified walkways integrated with a raised bed garden in a beautiful color way that properly drains water away from the house’s foundation. Also thanks to Connor’s knowledge of hardscaping and observation of parking issues on our property, the paved area near the driveway was installed to handle the weight of a car driving over it. THIS IS WHY YOU HIRE A PROFESSIONAL! They see potential issues and address them BEFORE they become problems. We will be returning customers!"

"We gave Jeff a deadline, as we had vacation renters arriving. Through all of the rain and terrible conditions he was able to get the work done on time. He cleaned up every day and our wall and site looks great now. Thanks Jeff! Mark W"

Small jobs welcome

"Job was done right, quickly and unbelievably on a Sunday before the heat wave. The reason I called was due to not being able to turn my mother’s air on. It was covered in poison ivy. John came in early to get the job done before the heat came in and mom is thrilled that her air is working……."

"Corey was extremely easy and professional to work with! He was very patient with us in designing the patio and firepit while keeping us within our budget. It took about 1 week for the project to be completed. We will have them come out next year to complete phase 2 of our project. My husband and I would highly recommend Nucrete. Very happy with the work they did!"

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

Yes, permeable paving is expensive. For driveways, expect to pay up to $70 per square foot; for patios, permeable paving can cost up to $30 per square foot. Costs will depend on the type of material you choose, plus the standard labor rate in your area.

Chip seal layers gravel and a liquid bitumen one at a time on-site, while asphalt directly pours a pre-combined mixture. Asphalt must be sealed, but it will last up to four times as long as chip seal driveways. Aesthetically, chip seal has a natural, rustic look compared to the traditional asphalt slab.

The answer to whether or not you need to get a permit before you start your driveway can vary widely based on local ordinances and the scope of your driveway ideas. In most urban and suburban areas, a permit is needed before building a new driveway to ensure that a homeowner is using safe materials and proper drainage practices while designing and constructing a new driveway. In some rural areas, a homeowner may not be required to apply for a permit. When building a new driveway on your own, always check with your local building department to see if you need to request a permit. When hiring a driveway contractor, verify that the right permits are being used before driveway construction begins.

The dimensions of a driveway apron vary based on local building codes, the width of your driveway, and the distance between the driveway and the road. On average, aprons range from 12 to 24 feet wide and 8 to 18 feet long. Typically, the end of the apron connected to the driveway matches its width—such as 10 to 12 feet for a single-car driveway—while the end at the street flares out to allow cars to turn in and out more easily. In some areas, you may not be responsible for the portion of the apron that extends beyond the sidewalk, but this depends on local laws.

Gravel is the cheapest way to extend a driveway. Gravel is an affordable, practical option that’s easy to install and perfect for DIY projects, helping you save on labor costs. It can be quickly spread and leveled to create extra driveway space without heavy preparation. While gravel doesn’t offer the same durability or finished look as concrete or asphalt, its low cost makes it ideal for budget-conscious homeowners who want a functional solution without overspending.
