"I looked for a contractor to fix my chimney for 12 months. I interviewed five contractors but I didn’t trust any of them. Finally I contacted Chimney Magic, they came, gave me a fair estimate and I hired them. They arrived on time, fixed my chimney, and cleaned up, I would recommend Chimney Magic."

"Anthony and his team stopped by to give me an estimate on removing a 6" flex pipe that had been installed in the chimney pipe to vent a wood stove. They climbed the roof, inspected the chimney and determined the flex pipe did not run the length of the two story chimney but was about 6-8' in length. They removed it and also took care of its disposal. And the cost was absurdly reasonable - dinner for two would have cost more. Can’t say enough good things about World Class Maintenance Inc. - these guys are the best!"

"I emailed a request for chimney inspection and cleaning over the weekend. I received a call shortly afterwards from Vinnie, the owner. He came out to my house, checked everything out, showed me detailed photos and was able to do the cleaning and necessary repairs the same day. Professional, fair pricing. Did a great job. Highly recommend"

"Oscar and Quality 1st did a great job cleaning my chimney at a very competitive cost! Oscar's explanation of general concerns and future repair work was honest and thorough. His ability to simplify the complexity of the chimney and inner workings of the house gave me confidence to keep in contact with him for future work and to refer him to friends and family. Hope to do business again in the future!"

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

To maintain metal roof health, schedule regular inspections, clear debris from gutters, and check for signs of corrosion.

Asphalt shingles blister when air gets trapped between building materials, either within the layers of the shingle itself or in adhesives on the undersides of the shingles. As the roof heats up in direct sunlight, the trapped gas expands and creates a bubble in the roof. Eventually, the bubble can pop, leaving an exposed area of decking and underlayment.

EPDM roof installation isn’t too complicated, which means an inspection won’t be prohibitively expensive—around $500. These inspections should be carried out once a year in order to notice any deformities or other issues that would need immediate fixing. The saying “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” should be in your mind when considering regular inspections.

No, ice dams aren’t a standalone sign that you need a new roof. Ice dams can form on new roofs, as issues with the insulation inside your home are often the underlying problem. However, if you notice signs of roof damage from ice dams, you might need to hire a local roofer for repair or partial replacement.

A roof's ability to handle snow depends on its strength and the snow's weight, as wet snow is much heavier than dry, fluffy snow. While designs in snowy regions often allow for 35 to 50 pounds per square foot, a general guideline is that a typical roof can withstand about four feet of fresh snow, two feet of packed snow, or just one inch of ice. Factors like the roof's age, slope, and support structure also affect its capacity; newer, sloped roofs generally hold more weight than older, flat ones. Ice and ice dams add significant, dangerous weight. Because capacity varies, it is best to contact a professional roofing contractor or the original builder to determine the maximum snow load for your specific home.
