"Tom and his crew were excellent and really did outstanding work. They were on time, and completed the job in one day. The work they did was of the highest quality, and they went above and beyond by also grounding and neatening up the cable and phone wires on the outside of the house. I had requested a quote to run electric for a new central a/c unit and Tom pointed out that the service to the house was original from the 60's and recommended that it should be replaced but was not required to run the new a/c unit. His honesty and kind demeanor made us comfortable so we decided to move forward with running both the new electric for the a/c and to replace the entire service and panel. I would highly recommend TFC Electric, Inc. and will definitely use him for any additional work we may need done in our home."

"For the past 15 years Mike from Shamrock Electric has done extensive electrical work for two homes. He is personable, reliable, knowledgeable and fastidious. Recently he returned for a smaller job and completing a delicate onyx sconce installation with the same skill and expertise. I’m always confident that the job has been done right when Mike does my electrical work. I highly recommend him. He is a pro!"

"From start to finish, Best Quality Electric delivered an exceptional, white-glove experience. The process began with a dedicated consultation that was educational, detailed, and thoughtfully planned—setting a clear vision before any work even began. The following day, the team arrived precisely on time and immediately demonstrated a level of professionalism that is rare to find. Shoe protection was used, and every floor and piece of furniture was carefully covered. Their respect for the home was as impressive as their craftsmanship. Watching the two electricians work was remarkable. They operated in perfect sequence, anticipating each other’s next step, covering every single detail with precision. Not one question went unanswered—each was met with patience, clarity, and deep expertise that inspired complete confidence. Best Quality Electric truly lives up to its name. This is not just electrical work—it’s a refined, high-standard service experience. Bold, meticulous Toptier work!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

For a 200-amp underground service, you need a minimum of #2/0 American Wire Gauge (AWG) copper or #4/0 AWG aluminum or copper-clad wire. Don’t forget that, at minimum, you’ll need to use a 1 1/2-inch schedule 40 or 80 PVC conduit to successfully run a 200-amp underground service.

Yes, but our analogy with the water hose doesn’t really work here. You see, electrical flow isn’t constant: It ebbs and flows like waves, coming in pulses of power. Hertz measures the rate of change in the flow of electricity, or how often it ebbs and flows. For example, 60Hz means that the electrons pulse through wiring 60 times per second. When they are pulsing, they’re in a brief retreat. Almost all United States equipment is rated for 60Hz.

If you have a garage heater that is 1,500 watts or more, it will need its own breaker. As a good rule of thumb, no appliance should exceed 1,500 watts per outlet for best outcomes. Consult a local garage heating service to determine the power needs for your outdoor or indoor space.

For many homeowners, sheds are more than storage spaces for tools or lawn care appliances. If you’re thinking about building a work space outdoors or could make your life simpler by running electricity to a spot that’s closer to your yard, it could absolutely be worth the cost.

If your outlet is testing fine but keeps tripping, that’s a sign your GFCI outlet is working, but there’s a problem somewhere else. Try plugging in different devices and see if the outlet keeps tripping. If it’s not the appliance that’s causing the issue, it could be a problem in your wiring. Faulty wiring can be a source of electrical fires and other serious problems. We recommend arranging an inspection by an electrician if an outlet appears to be working but keeps tripping.
