"The project was to restore a large portion of wooden chimney exterior destroyed by squirrels gnawing and inhabiting the interior over winter. We were extremely pleased with the timelness, quality and professionalism of Castle's custom carpenter, Rich, who attended to the restoration and subsequent caulking and painting of the work area. His knowledge, skill and proficiency will benefit any potential customer. We were pleased with the final cost of the repair, as being fair and reasonable."

"He deserves his solid reviews. While I haven't yet had a chance to see the full effect (not tested with strong thunderstorm), it looks like he did a solid job quickly with cleaning gutters (not sure why gutter cleaning not an option under HomeAdvisor) and without hassle (despite HomeAdvisor's poor customer service - long story). I highly recommend him as he knows what he's doing and worked hard in the hot sun. He may be a new service, but worth a shot. Will go to him if we need it done again."

"Right from the beginning I was impressed with the customer service. Unlike some contractors, Matt showed up when he said he would, or let me know promptly if there would be a delay. The work (replacing the gable end siding on my medium sized barn) was done competently and quickly, clean-up was complete, all of the crew were pleasant, polite, and considerate about making as little disruption for me as possible. I would certainly use them again."

"I hired A2Z for a bathroom remodeling job. He had to take floors out repair damage install floors put in tile. He took out shower and wall dividing shower and whirlpool. He also replaced floor in toilet area. He did all this at budget and did an outstanding job. Now this would be enough for a 5 star he went a step or two further. When I called him to look at job I had another job done a day before my water heater broke and was replaced by someone else. I noticed a gas leak and a water leak the guy that replaced heater couldn't repair his mess up until a day or so. I called Joe and he repaired."

Caulking Services questions, answered by experts

In most states, handypeople do not need to be licensed to perform simple home repair tasks and smaller jobs. When projects exceed specific cost amounts, however, ranging from $500 in California to $50,000 in other states, some municipalities consider them to be contractors, meaning they need to be licensed. To learn if your handyperson should be licensed to work on your job, contact your local governing body or state contractors’ licensing board before starting any work.

Most professional appliance removal companies will not expect a tip, but offering one is a good way to show appreciation for a job well done. A tip of 10% to 20% is a good idea if your professionals are working in the rain or snow, if they take extra care not to damage your walls and furniture in the removal process, or if they need to maneuver the appliance through tight spaces or up or down stairs to get it out of your home.

A big resounding yes, hiring a contractor is 100% worth it. They bring expertise, manage permits, coordinate professions in different trades, and help avoid costly mistakes. A pro can keep your project on budget and schedule while ensuring quality work that adds value to your home.

You can tackle hanging Christmas lights yourself with the right tools, accessories, and a trusted friend or neighbor. You’ll need to purchase a ladder ($100 to $300), clips ($10 to $20), hooks ($10 to $15), and lights ($25 to $100 per string).

Otherwise, you should hire a trusted holiday light installer near you. You’ll pay an average price of $200 to $650, but you’ll have peace of mind knowing that the job is done correctly and safely.

A contractor specializes in a specific field. They often operate in teams where they have subcontractors to handle specialized problems. So if you have significant plumbing, drywall, or roofing issues, you’ll want to hire a contractor, as the job may require a team.

A handyperson is typically one person who works on whatever jobs come their way. You wouldn’t call a contractor to fix the hinges on cabinets or paint your room. Instead, a handyperson can handle all these issues, saving you from making multiple phone calls.
