"We did use them.  They are excellent.  I would use them again if I needed them and they are local.  They were very thorough, very professional, and cleaned up after themselves.  There was no debris left.  This is the kind of person you would want if you want some work done.  They came in the house, it didn't take them long, and they knew what they were doing.  We didn't have any problems.  They were very polite.  They were very reasonable on price.  They were very good."

Small jobs welcome

"Frank and his team with GMZ Contracting exceeded our expectations for building a new deck. We have owned multiple homes over the years and hired out lots of work, and Frank was without question the best contractor we have ever worked with. He provided us with a free estimate, and then followed through on everything he said he would do. His team showed up early every morning and worked all day until the job was done. Honestly, watching them work was fascinating because they worked so efficiently as a team and accomplished so much each day. Frank is the ultimate professional - delivering top quality work with integrity and great communication throughout the project. We will hire Frank and GMZ Contracting for all future work of ours, and will recommend them to anyone we know."

Everything turned out exactly as discussed—no surprises, just great results. We’re so happy with the outcome that we’re already planning to hire them for more work on our house. Highly recommended!"

Concrete Mudjacking questions, answered by experts

Mudjacking restores level surfaces, prevents further damage, and is more cost-effective than a full replacement.

Trenching and boring are two distinct methods for installing underground utilities. Trenching involves digging a channel using equipment like an excavator, trencher, backhoe, or shovel. While it is a simpler process, it causes significant disruption to the surface, landscaping, and surrounding ecosystems.

Boring, also known as directional boring, is a less invasive alternative that uses a drill to create a tunnel for utility lines without disturbing the surface. This method is more precise and is ideal for installations that need to go underneath buildings, roads, or bodies of water. Although boring is less disruptive, it is generally more expensive than trenching.

Most states and municipalities don’t require concrete mudjacking companies to carry a specific license, but they usually need to have a general contractor’s license, and they should be fully insured. The only exception is if the mudjacking company provides foundation repairs as well, or if it offers mudjacking for home foundations. In that case, they will typically need a foundation repair contractor’s license. You can check state requirements and then use Angi’s license lookup tool to confirm that a company is properly licensed to provide mudjacking services in your area.

Yes, expanding foam (also known as polyurethane foam) can lift concrete. This approach, called polyjacking, involves injecting the foam rather than concrete slurry to fill voids and raise the concrete slab back into place. It’s often faster and requires smaller drill holes than traditional mudjacking, though it may come at a higher cost. Some contractors also prefer polyjacking over mudjacking for more damaged and delicate slabs.

Generally speaking, push piers—or steel piers—are the best option for underpinning, as they reach down to solid bedrock to find support for your foundation rather than relying on soil, which could be subject to the same issues as the soil directly below your foundation. However, the best underpinning method for your home depends on your location, how far down the bedrock is, and the type of soil in your area. Helical piers are usually the best option for sandy soil or in areas where the bedrock is too deep to use steel piers.
