"He showed up when he said he would, he was prepared, he kept me informed when he ran into some issues. He was very professional very polite. I would hire him again. I did not have a lot done or complicated issues. I had a storm door installed and two outlet in the bathrooms replaced an adjustment on another storm door. His time management was great."

"We hired Marc and Parlor City Construction to enlarge our living room, by installing a LVL beam in the ceiling, replacing/rerouting electric outlet, reworking our floor to match and drywall and plaster our entire living room ceiling. The job was completed very professionally, on time service and at a reasonable cost. Each and every employee of Parlor City Construction was professional, congenial and trustworthy. We will in the future be hiring Parlor City Construction for further remodeling of our home."

"The app wouldn’t let me leave FIVE STARS! Because that is what Pavel deserves. We wanted him to do a bathroom remodel with a steam shower. Pavel came and looked at the job then after a couple of days told us he had never done a steam shower and wouldn’t feel comfortable doing so. We appreciated his honesty so much and still wanted to work with him. Pavel did a smaller project to install a kitchen sink and kitchen flooring. He is a joy to work with and we hope we can use him again! He is booked, booked, booked!!! So we appreciated him doing this smaller job for us."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, it’s possible to cut tile without a wet saw; instead, you can use an angle grinder, a glass cutter, a snap cutter, tile nippers, or a rotary tool with a tile-cutting blade. A manual tile cutter or snap cutter works well for the larger tiles that wet saws are typically used for, while smaller projects might just require nippers or a glass cutting wheel. If you’re working with large quantities of tile, however, power tools are best.

While you shouldn’t use thinset mortar on its own as a floor leveler, it can work alongside other products to help level floors. For instance, you could start with a self-leveling compound, let that dry, then apply backer board with thinset mortar to help fully even out the floors ahead of laying tile.

You can, in theory, tile your fireplace hearth with most tiles. However just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. For example, it’s much better to use unglazed tiles because glazed tiles are more resistant to cracking under extreme heat. Porcelain is more heat-resistant than ceramic, but you can still design the hearth as you like by putting the most heat-resistant tiles directly under the fire and, if it matches your style, add more decorative tiles further from the center of the fire.

The rule tells you how to cut tile to install it in a corner. The 3/4/5 rule recommends that you should have 3 feet across on one straight line, four feet on the other perpendicular line, and 5 feet of length from the end of one of the lines to the other. You’re making a right triangle with the tile, and the hypotenuse (the line across from where the 3-foot lie and 4-foot line meet) should be 5 feet long.

Costs range from $5 to $15 per square foot for installation and $150 to $600 for repairs, depending on the material and complexity.
