"Matt was very professional, arrived right on time for both the estimate and for the repair work. Our home is 100 years old with plaster and lath walls and ceilings. Once Matt started the repair he discovered that the ceiling had wallpaper under the stippling. That was a surprise to me but Matt wasn’t phased by it and did a great job repairing damaged sections. He works quick, professionally and is fastidious about cleaning up. I would highly recommend him."

"Steve, one of the workers, came promptly at 7:30 and got right to work.  He was very neat covering the floors which we had just gotten refinished and worked straight thru till the job was done.  Paul came later to do the wall repair after the glue removal and when he finished you could even see where the marks had been he was that good!  Josh (along with Steve) finished the painting job.  We were most pleased with the finished product and the price."

"Zach and his team were very professional and listened to what I had in mind for the project and did an amazing job. The exterior paint project was a complete color change and I could not be happier with the outcome. Instant curb appeal and instant value to my home from Zach's work. The project was completed in a timely manner without feeling like they were trying to rush through to get to the next job. Zach took the time to make professional decisions about best sheen of paint to use for the exterior siding material and it shows that he has many years experience in this line of work. It is a relief when you hire the best person for the job and a relief that I will no longer have to shop around for a painter, as I plan to use Zach and company for all of my painting jobs inside and out."

"The workmen showed up on time and were very professional and did excellent work. My only issue was how long it took to get the work scheduled, despite that I would use JEC again and would certainly recommend them."

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

The pros of wallpaper include its durability and longer lifespan than paint, as well as its versatility. The durability can translate to lower long-term costs for upkeep and replacement, and the versatility means you have more options for customizing rooms in your home. Some downsides include that it’s difficult to remove, it’s not ideal for rooms or areas exposed to high moisture content or sun exposure, and it’s tricky to install. A professional wallpaper hanger can help mitigate these issues, though, by installing it properly and in areas suitable for wallpaper.

Wallpaper lasts an average of around 15 years, but there is some variance. The type of wallpaper matters, as vinyl wallpaper tends to last the longest—sometimes 20 years or more—while a peel-and-stick wallpaper, which is the easiest to install for DIYers, will usually only last for around five years. Exposure to high humidity, smoke, and UV rays from sunlight can also limit the lifespan of your wallpaper, as can heavy traffic in the installation area.

One of the biggest downsides to peel-and-stick wallpaper is that it doesn't last as long as traditional wallpaper. Its lifespan depends on several factors, including the quality of the paper, proper wall preparation and application, and the room's conditions. As a general rule, peel-and-stick wallpaper can last for at least five years, but this can vary significantly. Budget products may only last about 3 years, while higher-quality products can stay up for 7 years or more in ideal conditions. Factors that can shorten its lifespan include high humidity (such as in a bathroom), dirty walls, and low-quality paper. If used on flooring, expect it to last only 1 to 3 years unless sealed. However, the shorter lifespan can be seen as a positive, making it a great choice for people who enjoy switching up their interiors more frequently.

We don’t recommend wallpapering over older paper. That’s because creating layers of glue can invite bubbling or excess moisture on the wall’s surface. You should also prime your wall before applying wallpaper and smooth the wall as much as you can, and another layer of wallpaper complicates this process.

The average cost to remove wood paneling is $2,800, but total costs may be higher or lower depending on the size of the room, your location, and the amount of prep work required. Once the paneling is gone, you may have additional costs depending on the condition of the wall beneath.
