"it started off they came late from time indicated on my contract . removed exterior door . installed new door , thats when all the crap started . they placed the door with side light in the opening . before they secured the door they opened the door ,which causes the frame to reck. thats when they started to tell me the door has a manufacturer issue , and they are doing there best . they messed up and are blaming the maker. they worked on it and got it close still not the way it is supposed to be clean up and off they go now the send me an invoice $150.00 more than the quote , i question it and they tell me they had to use a couple cans of foam 1/2 a tube of silicon. that doesnt justify 150 dollars. then they say they worked 6 hrs insted of 5hrs set forth by the contract. one problem they started late and left well before the aloted 5 hrs . all that said nice guys . thats about it . now i have to hire a real professional to take the door out reset it in the frame and reinstall it. Woodworking questions, answered by experts

Yes, home builders need to be licensed in every state and municipality in the country. The specific license required varies based on the location and the work, but most states require that the builder hold a general contractor’s license at minimum. Some states and cities also require that plumbing, electrical, roofing, and sewage system construction require individual licenses, in which case the builder may subcontract the work. You can use Angi’s contractor licensing tool to confirm that the builder you’re considering holds all the proper licenses.

A board foot is a volumetric unit and is primarily used for pricing and planning larger projects where volume is a factor. Pricing lumber by the board foot aids in understanding exactly how much wood you’re purchasing, as volume is a more accurate unit of measurement compared to square feet.

Pallet wood can withstand all kinds of outdoor weather conditions, which is part of why pallet fences are so appealing to DIY-ers. You can weatherproof the wood further before you paint or stain it, as well. Pallet fences are low-cost, easy to install, and can withstand sun and rain exposure without rotting.

Rather than using a common two-by-four piece of wood for a rafter, you probably will use two-by-six, two-by-eight, two-by-ten, or even two-by-twelve boards. Wider lumber is typically a better choice in a larger building as it provides more sturdiness. Some installers may use wider lumber for rafters near the edges of the roof, where the greatest stress occurs, and save money with narrower lumber toward the middle.

Hiring a woodworker can be expensive, depending on the job, but it’s very often well worth the investment. Woodworkers are able to provide custom pieces of furniture and handmade construction to present a finished product that is exactly to your specifications. If you have a specific vision for a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture or home feature, the cost of hiring a professional woodworker is worthwhile. Plus, you’ll often get a higher quality product than what you could buy in stores for a fraction of the price.
