"Appointment was scheduled on the same day and they were on time. The employees were friendly and polite. $795 plus tax for a 10 vent system seems quite expensive and out of the range quoted on the website. I called because I had visible mold on the ceiling diffusers. They made an attempt to blow these but it didn't achieve anything so they suggested I replace all the diffusers. I cleaned them myself with bleach. The owner called me to follow up and I told him that I thought the price was a bit high so he offered a free dryer vent service. I thought that was an excellent follow up."

Dryer Vent Cleaning questions, answered by experts

There are a few things you can look out for that indicate it’s time to clean your dryer vent, including the following:

  • It has been a year or more since the last professional cleaning.

  • Your clothes are taking longer to dry than usual.

  • Your clothes smell musty or burnt when they come out of the dryer.

  • You see lint building up around the outside dryer vent cap.

  • Your laundry room is unusually hot.

  • Your dryer is unusually hot to the touch during operation.

  • You notice a kink in or damage to the vent.

A burnt rubber smell coming from your clothes after they’ve been in the dryer can be the result of too much lint in the lint trap. This prevents air from circulating properly, and the lint may even come into contact with the heating element. It could also be the result of bigger issues like a faulty thermostat or worn-out dryer belt. A burnt rubber smell can even come from elastic waistbands or rubber decals in your clothes. To remedy this, dry clothes on a lower heat setting or allow them to air dry instead.

Use air purifiers, clean regularly, and ensure proper ventilation to reduce pollutants.

Professionals use specialized tools, such as high-powered vacuums and brushes, to clear lint and debris from the vent system, ensuring its safe and efficient operation.

In a ventless dryer, lint it collected in a lint filter found inside the door or dryer drum. Vented dryers have this same lint filter, but in a ventless dryer you’ll need to stay on top of cleaning the lint filter after every wash. This is a common best practice, regardless of your dryer vent type.
