"Like me, you spend a lot of time looking at hundreds of reviews for a dependable company. It's always important to do your due diligence looking for the best concrete and excavation contractor by requesting and comparing quotes from multiple contractors. Trust me when I tell you, your search is over! Hands down, High Tech Concrete & Excavation, is by far the best professional contractor I've ever hired. Jimmy did a fantastic job demolishing and installing a new stoop. The work done was top-notch, and his workmanship is remarkable. The price was HALF of what others wanted to charge me. To boot, he put leftover cement down to create a slab for my dogs to walk on while running out of our front yard, which typically is muddy by the rain and snow. I will use Jimmy again for my next masonry project. Not only that, we've already booked him for driveway sealing, including and filling in the cracks. Hiring Jimmy is a no-brainer."

"Marcos and his crew redid my back patio by pitching it away from the house so water would drain . He also added on to the patio using both my pavers and additional ones . He used Belgian blocks as an edge. Most importantly, he fit pieces perfectly around areas which could not use a whole paver. Magnificent job all around."

Concrete Driveways questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can pressure wash epoxy floors, but you must take precautions to avoid damaging the surface. While most epoxy floors can be cleaned with a mop, you might choose to pressure wash if the floor is stained, has ground-in dirt, or is covered with mold or mildew. To do so safely, first soak any stains or dirty areas with a gentle cleanser. Use a lower pressure setting with a gentle nozzle, such as a green, white, or black tip, or a 45-degree angled tip. Keep the spray nozzle at least 18 inches away from the floor to protect the surface. Using a surface cleaner attachment or a rotary scrubber can also help prevent overspray. Be cautious if using a power washer that heats the water, as the combination of heat and pressure may be too powerful and could damage the epoxy coating.

It takes time for damage to accumulate on garage floors. After years without maintenance, they will show cracks, stains, and moisture damage while collecting layers of dust along the surface.

Not pressure washing your driveway can lead to several consequences that affect both its appearance and its structural integrity over time:

  • Reduced Curb Appeal: A dirty driveway covered in grime, stains, and mildew detracts from your home's overall appearance.

  • Safety Hazards: The buildup of algae, moss, and mildew creates slippery surfaces. When wet, it increases the risk of slips and falls for you, your family, and visitors.

  • Structural Damage: Dirt, debris, and organic growth can trap moisture against the driveway's surface. In colder climates, this moisture can freeze and thaw, leading to cracks and deterioration of the concrete or asphalt.

You should avoid using a pressure washer on any surface or item that could be damaged by the high-pressure spray, as some materials are too delicate to withstand the force.

Key items and surfaces to avoid include:

  • Electrical Components: Never pressure wash electrical systems, as water can cause short-circuits and create a safety hazard. This includes utility meters, breaker boxes, electrical outlets, generators, and HVAC or air conditioner units.

  • Delicate and Fragile Materials: Fragile items can crack, shatter, or be stripped by the pressure. Avoid pressure washing windows, glass, light fixtures, shingled roofs (especially asphalt), and stucco.

  • Painted, Stained, or Sealed Surfaces: Unless your goal is to strip the finish, do not pressure wash painted surfaces, stained wood (like decks), or anything with a protective seal that could be stripped away. Be especially cautious with older surfaces that may contain lead paint.

  • Soft Woods and Certain Decking: Delicate surfaces like softwood, composite decking, and antique or wooden patio furniture can be etched or damaged. If you must wash wood, use a lower-powered pressure washer with a wide-angle nozzle to prevent damage.

  • Living Things: Never use a pressure washer on people, pets, or plants. The force can cause serious injury and will destroy landscaping.

One of the most important factors to consider when buying a pressure washer is not just psi but also the machine’s overall cleaning power. This is based on both the psi and the GPM. Look for a cleaning rating, or effective cleaning unit (ECU), of up to 8,000 for most residential cleaning projects that require a pressure washer.
