"Very happy with Frank’s painting. We had the cedar shingles on our house power washed and the crew showed up on time, they were extremely careful of our property and surrounding areas, and cleaned up all debris after they were finished. They even cleaned our walkway pavers with the time they had left. Excellent value for a lot of work. I would definitely recommend them and look forward no to using them for other projects in the future."

"Jonathan and his team were hired to paint the exterior of our house. They were extremely professionals fast honest precise! they went beyond as they washed all skylights all windows power wash the old exterior that was chipping due to a sloppy previous painter. They also did a remarkable touch up on our huge deck. I hope they can return this season to do our interior painting ."

"My experience with Universe Painting and Juan has been amazing! They were always on time and their work is beautiful! They are extremely clean and after each day of work leave the house very clean! They are highly professional. Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

It’s a good idea to sand your porch before painting. This will remove loose or chipped paint and debris, and give you a cleaner surface so that your new paint goes on smoothly. But if the existing surface is in good condition, it’s not necessary to sand your porch before you paint.

Exterior paints contain more volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, making them dangerous when used indoors. Without the free ventilation of the great outdoors, it can take longer for the fumes to dissipate than interior paint. While you may notice the smell lessening more quickly, you should be wary of paint fumes inside for 48 to 72 hours after it dries.

Yes, it is important to wash your deck before painting to ensure the paint applies well and adheres properly. While you don't have to use a pressure washer, it is one of the most efficient cleaning methods. Pressure washing can quickly remove dirt, wood fibers, and flaked paint, getting deeper into the wood than manual scrubbing. You can also clean the deck with a stiff broom and a cleaning solution. Regardless of the method, a clean surface is essential for good paint adhesion. Make sure the deck is completely dry before applying any paint.

No, it is not okay to paint over rotted wood. Painting over rotted wood will not address the underlying issue and can trap moisture, leading to further decay. Properly addressing the rotted wood by removing and replacing or repairing the damaged areas is necessary before you can even consider painting.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.
