"Aleks, head of the business, was a pleasure to work with. He first spent time inspecting our home and discussing the options with us. He was prompt and quick with installing our system. He was meticulous and thorough and answered all our questions throughout the process. His team were friendly, hard-working and very neat and respectful of our home. We would certainly use the services of AMV again."

Small jobs welcome

"Excellent workmanship, professionalism, timeliness, trustworthiness, customer service AND we absolutely love the pride these men have in their craft. They really care about each job they are doing. They were very accommodating and just nice guys all around. Very funny too! Emiljano gave us his point of view and offered some great ideas as well to help us reach our vision. He never forced them on us and also some of those ideas saved us money! I would highly recommend Lumai Improvers LLC to anyone looking for a job done right! They do not take short cuts which we appreciated greatly! We are already discussing future projects!"

"I was once told by a master stair builder that if you want to evaluate a general contractors work, look in the dumpster at the job site for an excessive amount of used caulk tubes indicating that they are covering up mistakes. Recently we completed a very challenging project that required the excavation under our old seasonal home in conjunction with a significant 2-story addition. After interviewing three reputable and recommended contractors, we decided to work with Dave Nessel, owner of Unique Construction. Dave presented a clear concise estimate of the scope for the work proposed, the costs we should expect and a timeframe for completion; all proved to be very accurate. He and his team of true artisans obviously enjoyed their work. Laughter and music would usually overshadow the sound of the power tools that were working in synchrony. The exceptional fit and finish in a clean and neat environment were easily appreciated. Dave is truly a meticulous visionary. During the project, he was never shy about recommending esthetic modifications which deviated from the architects drawings. Whether these change orders originated from him or us, they were never with exorbitant fees, but were billed for time and materials used. The final result far exceeded our expectations. My wife and I would recommend Dave Nessel and Unique Construction without any reservation. Unique Construction….minimal caulk required"

Caulking Services questions, answered by experts

A contractor specializes in a specific field. They often operate in teams where they have subcontractors to handle specialized problems. So if you have significant plumbing, drywall, or roofing issues, you’ll want to hire a contractor, as the job may require a team.

A handyperson is typically one person who works on whatever jobs come their way. You wouldn’t call a contractor to fix the hinges on cabinets or paint your room. Instead, a handyperson can handle all these issues, saving you from making multiple phone calls.

Hiring a handyperson offers several benefits. They can save you time and hassle by completing tasks you may not have the time or experience to do yourself. A key advantage is ensuring the project is done correctly, which can prevent future issues and save money in the long run. For projects that pose safety risks, hiring an experienced professional is a much safer option. Additionally, handypeople are often more available for smaller jobs that larger contractors may not have the schedule for.

After cutting Corian® to the right size, you may have to attach it to another piece of Corian®, either at a corner or another seam. One way to create the tightest seam is to place the two pieces of Corian® on a level surface at ⅜-inch apart. Run a router in between the two slabs to create an identical edge on both pieces. Then use the proper DuPont Joint Adhesive for your type of seam and countertop to join the Corian® together.

Handypeople usually don’t hold trade licenses, so they typically aren’t qualified to tackle projects involving installing or making alterations to plumbing or electrical lines. Below are some jobs that a handyperson usually won’t be able to complete:

  • Installing plumbing for a new kitchen or bathroom

  • Replacing plumbing pipes

  • Installing or repairing septic systems

  • Running new electrical wiring

  • Installing a subpanel

You can tackle hanging Christmas lights yourself with the right tools, accessories, and a trusted friend or neighbor. You’ll need to purchase a ladder ($100 to $300), clips ($10 to $20), hooks ($10 to $15), and lights ($25 to $100 per string).

Otherwise, you should hire a trusted holiday light installer near you. You’ll pay an average price of $200 to $650, but you’ll have peace of mind knowing that the job is done correctly and safely.
