"Excellent job by Kevin, Fernando and Elmer. We called #1 Gutter Cleaner Repair Inc. when there was an impending rain storm two days away. We asked Kevin if our gutters could be repaired and cleaned. The next day Fernando and Elmer arrived and did a great job repairing our old gutters (being held by nails) with new hangers. They also repaired the downspouts (which were loose). And then they cleaned the downspouts and gutters which were clogged with leaves, etc.. They worked efficiently and quietly. Fernando showed me the photos of our cleaned gutters. Really appreciated this. 2nd time we called after storm hit our house. Keven was fantastic - he came the next day and did a great job with the gutters. He showed photos to my Mom. Highly recommend this company for their responsiveness, kindness, quick action, efficiency, and meticulous work. Thank You #1 Gutter Cleaner Repair Inc."

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

Gutter repair costs around $400 on average, and prices range from $200 up to $650 in most cases. You can expect to pay between $4 and $30 per linear foot. The best way to get an accurate estimate is to have a professional come out to price your project. Some factors that influence your total include the following:

  • Number of linear feet of gutter to repair

  • Gutter style

  • Gutter material

  • Accessibility of the gutters

  • Whether you have seamless or seamed gutters

  • Type of necessary repairs

Icicles don't necessarily mean your gutters are clogged or bad, but they can indicate an underlying issue. While clogged gutters can cause icicles to form, the problem could also be an ice dam on your roof from poor insulation. In that case, melting snow can refreeze in the gutter even without a clog. Regardless of the cause, the weight of the ice can damage your gutters or even rip them completely off the house. If you are unsure of the underlying problem, it's best to call a roofing company to assess the issue and implement a permanent solution.

Snow and ice can both accumulate on the top of a metal roof and slide off as the weight of the snow increases or as the snow and ice melt. This can rip the gutters off your roof and damage the gutters or the roof if you don’t take preventative measures. Snow guards are one of the easiest methods for helping to prevent snow accumulation on your metal roof from damaging your gutters.

Yes, caulking or sealing your vinyl gutters is a good way to help prevent gutter leaks. When you’re installing gutters, it’s important to overlap the sections to help avoid issues like leaks or drips, but they can still happen. In this case, adding caulk can help. Make sure to use a caulk designed for multiple surfaces, like a silicone-based caulk. You can also purchase a gutter sealant as well, which is specifically designed for this purpose.

Buried downspouts can freeze during cold weather as cold water runs through them. If you’ve discovered your downspouts are frozen, you can carefully pour hot water down the top of the downspout to defrost them. If that doesn’t work, you may need to dig your downspout back up. Avoid trying to break the ice from the exterior using a hammer as this can cause cracks and damage to your downspout.

To avoid freezing the future, consider adding a heating cable to the exterior, which can adjust heat based on the surrounding temperature.
