"Extremely patient with working with my work schedule. He was on time, respect my home by taking shoes off at front door, very professional, polite, and didn’t mind my pets running around. Would definitely hire him again and also refer him to friends and family."

"I was extremely happy with this company. I liked the fact that he would come to install one door. (Good to his advertisement, he goes to Suffolk county) It turned out to be more than the one door.. He returned my call, the same day. I found Greg, a pleasure to deal with. I chose his company to call, over 3 other names I felt fortunate, it worked out so well, and I made an excellent choice. Now have the name of someone who handles all types of home repairs, that does excellent work. I was extremely impressed, that upon walking up to my door, he removed the snow, off the steps. Top notch company!"

"Memo and Abby are so easy to work with! Memo is so prompt and does an excellent job! The only evidence of them being at my house was that the job was done! They came @ exactly 8:30 and worked straight through the day, everyday. They even chased down and caught my crazy dog, as he ran out the front door! ( Not part of the job!ð ) I would recommend him to anyone and, in fact, have numerous other projects for him! Abby is a big plus, communicating with me throughout whole project. Very helpful!!"

Doors questions, answered by experts

You can use a variety of wood to build a barn door, but the most common options include 1-by boards and 2-by boards for the backing and the decorative boards on the front of the door. Softwoods like pine will save you some money and should hold up well, while hardwoods like maple and oak will stand up to more wear and tear. You could also build the backer out of plywood to minimize the cuts you need to make. Whatever you decide on, make sure the width of the wood is compatible with the mounting brackets you buy.

Sometimes, these two terms are used interchangeably, but they are separate parts of a door, and each serves a different function. The sill helps ensure the doorframe is secure, and the threshold helps protect the sill and direct water away from the door to prevent leaks.

You can’t gauge the lifetime of a fire door like you could, say, an engine. Fire doors should be checked at least once every six months to ensure there are no signs of degradation like leaks, holes, water damage, termite damage, or anything else that might compromise the functionality of the door’s fire resistance. Check your smoke detectors while you’re at it.

Yes, barn doors can be too heavy, although the limitation is usually imposed by the mounting hardware you buy and not your home’s framing, unless you’re building an unusually wide door. To keep the weight down, you can opt for 1-by material rather than 2-by material, and choose a softwood like pine rather than a hardwood like maple or oak. Check the weight limits on your mounting hardware, and always attach your door track to studs rather than to drywall anchors.

Wood, steel, and fiberglass are common choices that offer durability and style.
