"I was once told by a master stair builder that if you want to evaluate a general contractors work, look in the dumpster at the job site for an excessive amount of used caulk tubes indicating that they are covering up mistakes. Recently we completed a very challenging project that required the excavation under our old seasonal home in conjunction with a significant 2-story addition. After interviewing three reputable and recommended contractors, we decided to work with Dave Nessel, owner of Unique Construction. Dave presented a clear concise estimate of the scope for the work proposed, the costs we should expect and a timeframe for completion; all proved to be very accurate. He and his team of true artisans obviously enjoyed their work. Laughter and music would usually overshadow the sound of the power tools that were working in synchrony. The exceptional fit and finish in a clean and neat environment were easily appreciated. Dave is truly a meticulous visionary. During the project, he was never shy about recommending esthetic modifications which deviated from the architects drawings. Whether these change orders originated from him or us, they were never with exorbitant fees, but were billed for time and materials used. The final result far exceeded our expectations. "I had used Remodeling Concepts in t he past for a home addition + siding + roofing and was extremely satisfied with the result. I called Derek just to see if he could recommend an electrician. Instead, Derek sent over his own company electrician to review the work to be done. Martin (electrician) did not want to open the ceiling for fear of damaging the soffits. He instead said he would run the wires thru a 2nd floor outlet to the porch. We set a date and time and he was at the house right on schedule. The job turned out to be more difficult than we thought but Martin was patient, professional and persistent. He managed to snake the wires and install the fans. I am very pleased with the work. "Our entire job was extensive, replacing all windows (new construction not inserts), remove/install siding, replace all outdoor trim changing it from wood to Azek, new indoor trim around new windows, new soffits, new gutters, new front door and surround, new garage doors, new outdoor lighting and new front porch.  The first contractor not only walked off the job but his work had to be removed and redone due to poor workmanship by the first contractor.  Cary came to the rescue, because we continued to uncover more work that had to be redone we paid Cary and his helper by the hour.  His work ethic was unquestionable.  He showed up on time and worked the promised 8 hours.  Cary did all the siding, soffit installation and basic outside trim which included a 1 x 8 freeze board a 1x4 board, dentil molding then cove molding along the roof line. He also cut the arches from the Azek.  Because my design for the front door surround was rather intricate Cary brought in two carpenters who were unbelievably talented.  He had them cut the remaining dentil that was needed on site.  He also brought in someone who installed the gutters and downspouts. Cary also installed our french doors with a retractable screen and as the Anderson construction rep said, " this is the best installation I have ever seen".  The overall project went smoothly once Cary took over the job.  He is respectful and listens to what you want and most importantly was there when I needed him."
