"My husband and I had a paver patio put in last month by PPM. We could not be happier with the outcome. Austin and his team were very responsive and followed through with everything they planned out. "In all my years of hiring various contractors for work done on my own place, as well as for work done at some properites I managed for many years, (30)I have never had such excellent work done by any conractor. Not only did All Dry Basement honor their written estimate, they went beyond several times on other things not covered, but related. This was all done in Covid times. All workers were always unfailingly polite, respectful, neat, organized, prompt etc. Fill in the words of your choice for attributes that you would look for in a contactor, and you have a picture of All Dry basement people."

You may not need a hammer drill if you’re planning on drilling one or two very small diameter holes in brick. Brick spalling—which refers to the crumbly, flaky, or pitted appearance that can develop over time—is caused by a few different conditions. These include:

While you can’t do anything about the weather, you can preserve your bricks by cleaning them with soapy water and a good old-fashioned scrubbing. If you don’t have advanced-level DIY skills in masonry, you can hire a reputable masonry contractor in your area for your project.

Professionally done brick repointing can last 20 to 30 years, sometimes longer. However, the exact lifespan depends on several factors, including the quality of the mortar, the skill of the mason, and exposure to weather. If you live in an area with harsh weather or frequent freeze-thaw cycles, you may need to repoint more often. Repointing that is done as a DIY project may only last 10 to 15 years. It's time to repoint when you notice signs of mortar failure, such as crumbling or missing mortar, holes, or vines growing between the bricks. Regular inspections can help you catch these issues early.

Initially, brick staining is not cheaper than painting. However, while it has a higher up-front cost, it may be more cost-effective in the long run. Brick stain can last for 20 years or longer, compared to paint, which usually starts to peel away in three to five years.
