"Joe is an absolute pro and I highly recommend him and his team. I hired Joe to repaint my interiors and they gave me a fresh new look while taking care to protect my floors and furniture. It was a bit complicated with various areas needing patchwork, skim coating, etc. They did such a beautiful job I am hiring them to paint the exterior this summer. Joe is also well-connected with local contractors and found me a great carpenter to put in a new front porch, so I consider him a valuable resource."

"Mr Kâ s painting and remodeling is outstanding. Their quality of work, attention to detail and overall customer service is exceptional. We have a 3 story Victorian home that needed a tremendous amount of prep work before the painting. In addition, we had several different colors of paint that needed to be applied. Mr Kâ s team did a wonderful job and our home looks absolutely beautiful!! We highly recommend Mr Kâ s!!"

"Chris Downie and his wife Allie did a great job sanding and staining ouir porch and deck. He also applied white plastic trim around the porch, repaired the broken screening and reconstructed our hallway light at the bottom of the stairway to the cellar. Arrived on time, worked hard completing tasks, and gave a fair estimate of the materials and labor. I expect to use him again for painting the screened porch before fall."

"I was very impressed with Darlcom when I hired them. The owner, Steven Darling, is diligent and honest. He gave me a very reasonable quote for the exterior painting of my house, performed beyond expectations, and his crew members were extremely polite and on time every day until the job was done. It was refreshing to meet a crew with such passion, and incredible work ethic, something rarely seen nowadays. I will be rehiring them for the interior of my house, along with many other projects to come."

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

Yes, vinegar can remove polyurethane from wood, but it is a slow, inefficient, and inconsistent restoration method. Whatever your intention, it’s best to avoid using vinegar on wood with a polyurethane finish—though it can be an effective cleaner for other wood finishes.

Penetrating sealer seeps into concrete pores to protect it from moisture and staining, cracking, and mold caused by water. This means you cannot remove penetrating sealers like topical sealers. The good news is that penetrating sealant doesn’t have to be removed before resealing, as most topical sealers must. Instead, you’ll want to buy a compatible penetrating sealant (often the same kind already in the concrete) and apply it. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Sanding surfaces, repairing damage, cleaning thoroughly, and using quality primers are all steps you can take for exterior home painting.

Yes, you can technically use a pressure washer to remove paint from brick, but it comes with a significant risk of damaging the brick surface. A high-power pressure washer can be fast but may leave the brick looking unsightly. The recommended method is to first apply a chemical paint stripper, following the product's instructions, and then use a stiff metal bristle brush or a pressure washer on a low-pressure setting to remove the loosened paint. Due to the risk of damage, it is often best to hire a professional who can use low-stress methods.

If you recently splashed paint on the wrong area of a wooden object, remove it with a solvent or caustic paint stripper. Some paint that has yet to dry may be removable by hand with coarse sandpaper or a plastic scraper. Another trick for removing dried-on paint is rubbing a dab of nail polish remover on the paint to remove it, but avoid touching the bare wood surface.
